The Anetzberger Verdict:
King James is playing the best basketball of his career right now, and it's a pleasure to watch. ESPN analysts have been saying that watching the Cavs-Hawks series is boring because Cleveland is so dominant. Are you kidding? Who wouldn't love watching a single player dominate the playoffs? The Cavaliers said the finally faced adversity last night when they were down to the Hawks late in the first half. The Cavs didn't really respond, but it was Lebron who elevated his game in the second half. Unconscious from downtown, and unstoppable putting it on the floor, Lebron proved why he was this year's MVP. The King finished with 47 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists. Leading the Hawks was Joe Johnson with 21 points, five rebounds, and three assists. The Dallas Mavericks were in a must win last night as they returned home to face the Nuggets. With drama surrounding Dirk Nowitzki, he performed great under pressure. At the end of the first qu
arter, the Mavericks were up by two. However, Carmello Anthony stepped his game up in the second quarter, and gave the Nuggets a half time lead. Chauncey Billups was fairly quiet in the first half, but exploded in the second half to keep the Nuggets at pace with the Mavericks. The controversial play came with six seconds left. Dirk Nowitzki missed a fade away jumper at the top of the key, and the Nuggets called timeout trailing by two points. The Mavericks had one foul to give. Denver inbounded the ball to Melo and he drove towards the Mavs bench. Carmelo pump faked and Antoine Wright slapped his wrist. The ref didn't call it and Carmelo drilled a three-pointer with one second left to give the Nuggets a one point lead. The Mavericks were furious and it was clear through replay that Wright did in fact hit Melo's wrist. Dirk Nowitzki threw up a prayer with a second left that hit nothing but the floor. After the game, several Mavericks players had to be restrained from the ref's. Mavs owner Mark Cuban was shown pushing camera men out of the way as he was also furious. The Nuggets now take a 3-0 lead and if history stands, the Nuggets will win. Teams who lead 3-0 in the postseason have won the series 100% of the time. The Cavs also take a 3-0 lead and look to close out the series on Monday. I think the only chance Atlanta has will be on Monday. I think at most this series will be five games, but if they can put their best effort and have Cleveland miss some shots, they have a chance. I don't think they'll win but if they have any chance, it will be Monday.
