Fox Sports Florida:
MIAMI LeBron James is in full playoff mode. Well, maybe.
The Miami Heat star said he has given up his cell phone to concentrate on the playoffs. But such a task can be tough in this era.
Sideline reporter Craig Sager interviewed James for NBA TV following Tuesdays Game 2 against Milwaukee. He asked James about cutting off communication during the playoffs.
I can use yours? James asked Sager, who said he could borrow his phone. So there it is, Ill use yours . Im back before cell phones were invented.
Its the second straight year James has turned his phone off during the playoffs. It worked last season, as James won his first NBA title.
James also vows to do like he did last year and give up Twitter. The last tweet he sent out was last Saturday, the day before Miamis playoff opener, when he wrote, Zero Dark Thirty-6 Activated! I'm gone.
Barring a major upset, dont expect James to be back on Twitter until after the NBA Finals end in June.
During last years playoffs, James often was spotted reading books in the locker room. He expects that to continue this postseason.
Just read a little more than I did during the regular season, James, who had 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists Tuesday in Miamis 98-86 win, said about going into his playoff mode. Not much sports talk radio (does he listen to during the postseason). I watch the playoffs. I watch cartoons with my kids. I watch movies with the family but not much of what sports (broadcasters) are talking about.
When James phone was shut off during the playoffs last spring, Keith Dambrot, once James coach at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio, did have a method to get in touch with him to offer advice. Dambrot, now coach at the University of Akron, would send a text to Mike Mancias, James' trainer, or to Randy Mims, his personal assistant. It was then shown to James, who requested any response to be sent.
Before Tuesdays game, James told reporters he was pleased to see his former coach in Cleveland, Mike Brown, get rehired by the Cavaliers. James was then asked if he planned to text congratulations to Brown.
I dont have a phone right now, James said.
One assumes James could have borrowed Sagers to reach out to Brown.

LeBron James knows how important this postseason is for his legacy. Winning the first ring of his career was a major milestone, but NBA legends win multiple championships. In many ways, winning a second ring would be just as important as winning a first for LeBron. That’s why he’s sticking with what works.
Like last year, LeBron has decided to give up his cell phone for the duration...
King James runs a tight ship.
LeBron James, he of the remarkable regular season and the likely NBA MVP, is firing on all cylinders right now.
And not just during games. The Heat star is also lighting it up in practice, beating teammates in shooting contests, as evidenced by this video from Joseph Goodman of The Miami Herald.
James bested teammates Ray Allen -- the most prolific...
After the Miami Heat’s game one victory over the Milwaukee Bucks, LeBron James wore a bizarre sweater to the post game press conference. I guess if you’re the best basketball player in the world you can do stuff like this, but it can’t be recommended. I hope his teammates gave him a lot of grief for wearing this hideous thing.
I’m not judging. I’m just pointing out that LeBron James wears the same type of pants that your wife or girlfriend (or both) does. LeBron took some time to pose for this picture (which was posted to his Facebook page) after the Heat’s Game Two win.
Like I said, I’m not judging. But those pants look much much much better on my wife.
I’m gonna miss it T…
LeBron James is doing everything he can to keep focused. No phone and no Twitter for LBJ during the postseason. Per Fox Sports: “Sideline reporter Craig Sager interviewed James for NBA TV following Tuesday’s Game 2 against Milwaukee. He asked James about cutting off communication during the playoffs. ‘I can use yours?’ James asked Sager, who said...
If someone wants to call or text LeBron James, the best of luck to them. According to FOX Sports Florida, LeBron James has turned off his cell phone for the [...]
Russell Westbrook stars in this new “We Are All Watching” ad, the second in the series of 2013 NBA Playoffs commercials – the first one featured LeBron James. In the latest commercial, people all around the world watch Russell Westbrook as he dominates and wins big against the Lakers.
After beating the two during a 3-point contest at practice, LeBron 'Drill Sergeant' James made Ray Allen and Mario Chalmers do 20 pushups each.
To put into context the challenge any team faces in a seven-game series, just take a gander at Miami's regular season results. The Heat lost just four times in their last 41 games dating back to Jan. 27 - with one of those losses coming without LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.
Any team that plans on knocking out the defending NBA champions must find a way to beat them four times...
Carmelo Anthony did it again last night by dropping 34 on the Boston Celtics to lead his team to a 87-71 victory Tuesday night. His performance is just further proof that LeBron James is not the only stud in this league and may not run away with the MVP this year as expected.
I know that voters are only supposed to look at the regular season when deciding their vote, and that...
After beating his teammates in a 3 point around-the-world shooting competition at Heat practice today -- LeBron James forced Ray Allen and Mario Chalmers to get down and give him 20.

Anytime you are mentioned in the same breath as Larry Bird, you are great. Kevin Durant is a great player and one of the few SUPERstars of the league.
He has a problem though and that problem is named LeBron James.
LeBron has hit his prime and has a perfect team behind him to go on a run of championships. Only one person can stop him and that’s KD.
It is easier said than done though...
By now you have probably heard the news, the Cleveland Cavaliers have hired Mike Brown as their head coach again, after letting him go three years ago. Good for him, I do not think he is either a great coach or the abysmal failture that he was painted as during his depature from the Los Angeles Lakers.
In addition to his report on that hiring, Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski...
Marc Gasol beat out LeBron James and Serge Ibaka to be named the 2012-13 NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
