There are some things best left untouched. Imagine someone in Hollywood attempting to make a sequel of the great "Forrest Gump." Remember just how bad the sequel of Jim Carey’s "Dumb and Dumber" was?

We’re not sure if this is going to fall in line with that, but Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James is out there to test the waters. James — along with his partner Maverick Carter — are going full bore ahead with a remake of the 1990s hit movie "House Party."

“LeBron and his producing partner, Maverick Carter, are spearheading the project through their production company, Springhill Entertainment … with Atlanta writers, Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori, doing the screenplay,” TMZ Sports notes.

There have been four different versions of "House Party" released since the original back in 1990. All four have flopped big time. Talk about James putting himself out there. This is either going to be really big or bomb in grand fashion.

We have no word yet on whether Kid or Play will be involved, but that seems like a distinct possibility.

As James potentially enters the twilight of his career, he’s been transitioning over to the entertainment industry and could become a big time Hollywood power player moving forward. A remake of "Space Jam" is currently in the works, which leads us to believe James will use move-making as a big-time avenue once his playing career is over.

And why not? James remains the single greatest brand in all of professional sports. He’s ranked No. 1 all-time on the SNIPdaily NBA Top 100 for popularity, ahead of Kevin Durant. It’s not necessarily that close, either.

With a net worth of north of $400 million, a potential $1 billion deal with Nike and this type of popularity, Hollywood should probably prepare itself for another production king. If "House Party" takes off, that will be magnified even further.
