LeBron James passed Kobe Bryant to become the youngest player in NBA history to get to the 20,000 point mark. Last night the Miami Heat played the Golden State Warriors when James reached the NBA milestone. James hit a jump shot with 2:45 left in the second quarter to give him 20,001 career points. When the game started all he needed was to reach 18 points to get to the 20,000 mark. Here is the video of the shot that made him eclipse the 20,000 mark. LeBron James became the 38th NBA player to reach the mark. When Kobe Bryant set the record he was 29 years old. LeBron is 28 years old. James also passed the 5,000 career assist mark when he set up teammate Dwyane Wade for a bucket. James is now the 13th player in NBA history with 20,000 points and 5,000 assists. Last night when asked if he knew about the milestone, James told reporters, “The best part about it is I was in a rhythm, too, so it wasn’t one of those forced shots. I was able to get the switch on David Lee and get to the elbow and make a shot. It’s pretty cool.” Wade thought that James could have set the mark even earlier. He spoke after the game and said, “He probably would’ve had it sooner if he didn’t decide to come down here to South Beach. It’s just a testament to him as a player.” Miami Heat head coach also commented on the LeBron’s milestone. “That’s a big-time moment. He’s a special guy. He’s a special player. He’s a once-in-a-generational type of player.”
