In the midst of one of the least eventful periods of the sports year with the college football bowl season and NFL playoffs in the rear view mirror and March Madness still a few weeks away, a new sports phenomenon has emerged that would've taken the likes of a Nostradamus to see. Jeremy Lin's arrival as a legitimate court general for a Knicks team that was quickly becoming an afterthought in the Eastern conference playoff picture is extremely unique for several reasons. Lin's journey to the NBA as a Harvard-educated student athlete who went undrafted following a productive, but hardly spectacular Ivy League career is enough to make for a feel-good story on its own, but its Lin's personal journey as a second-generation Asian-American that will make his story most significant, regardless of whether or not his stint as a superstar is short-lived.
