The Los Angeles Clippers currently have five players who have started in the NBA at the point guard position which could potentially leave Mo Williams on the trading block.
With All-Stars Chris Paul and Chauncey Billups more than capable of playing the position at a high-level, plus Williams making $8.5 million this season and next, it would be a no-brainer for most to see what the Clippers could get in a trade. On the other hand, Williams is averaging 14.8 points, 3.8 assists and 1.22 steals per game in 27.3 minutes off the bench which makes him a very valuable member of the team.
Williams trained hard in the offseason and even scheduled workouts with Blake Griffin in anticipation of being the starting point guard. That was of course before the Clippers traded for Paul. Clippers general manager Neil Olshey asked Williams out to lunch before the start of the season to make sure everybody was on the same page.
