Found January 19, 2013 on Hoop Fantasies Fantasy Basketball Blog:
The Los Angeles Lakers are looking for a big man and have inquired with the Minnesota Timberwolves about power forward Dante Cunningham. Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak made a call to ask about Cunningham's availability, Darren Wolfson of 1500ESPN.com reported. It's not said who the Lakers offered. Cunningham is playing well for the injury ravaged Wovles, averaging 7.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and .5 blocks. In seven starts, he's getting 8.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, .9 assists, 1.6 steals and .6 blocks. In the Wolves' last game, Cunningham was benched in favor of Derrick Williams. He ended the night with seven points and seven rebounds in 32 minutes. Cunningham's fantasy value (what little value he holds) would diminish in LA.

Lakers Stock Watch: 1/13 – 1/20

Image Credit: Noah Graham | Getty Images“Another disappointing week in the books for the Los Angeles Lakers.” This seems to be a recurring theme for the season. After a promising 2-0 start to the week, the Lakers finished this past week with a 2-2 record; a record that will simply not cut it for the 17-23 Lakers. The Lakers started the week off with solid wins against Cleveland...

Kobe Bryant wants his teammates to help him get easier shots

The Lakers’ latest attempt to turn their season around involves Kobe Bryant guarding every opponent’s best perimeter player night in and night out. That sounds doable for a 25 year-old Kobe Bryant. But Bryant isn’t 25 anymore; he’s 34. Not being able to rest of defense will quickly take its toll on Bryant. Which means that his play on the offensive end could be affected....

Pau Gasol Says He’s a “Star Starter” and Doesn’t Want to Come Off The Bench

Gasol sounds a little “Iversonish” with this quote. Pau: “I’ve been a starter my entire career. I’ve been a star starter my entire career, so I want to continue to be a star starter.” — Dave McMenamin (@mcten) January 18, 2013

Dwight Howard airballs free throw during Lakers/Heat

Nearing the end of Thursday night's Los Angeles Lakers/Miami Heat game, Lakers center Dwight Howard stepped to the free throw line with his team trailing by two in the final minutes of the game. For anyone that doesn't know, Dwight isn't exactly the greatest free throw shooter and many should have assumed that his first free throw wasn't going to go well.Watch as Dwight...

Chris Johnson And Mickael Gelabale Sign 10-Day Contracts, Earn MVP Chants In First Game

When I learned that Chris Johnson and Mickael Gelabale had been signed to 10-day contracts by the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday morning, I suspected that they’d likely see action that same evening against the Houston Rockets.  After all, each player was acquired purely out of necessity — with only seven healthy bodies available, the Wolves needed at least one additional...

Wolves Saturday: Another man down -- temporarily

MINNEAPOLIS The Timberwolves may have just nine players Saturday night against Houston, even after signing Mickael Gelabale and Chris Johnson to 10-day contracts. The latest casualty is Dante Cunningham, who missed shootaround with an illness and is listed as questionable for the game. Alexey Shved, who's status is day-to-day with a sprained ankle, is out, as is Nikola Pekovic...

Minnesota Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic will miss the next seven to 10 days because of badly bruised right quadriceps. Pekovic was injured in the third quarter against the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night after a collision with Blake Griffin. Pekovic did not practice on Friday and Timberwolves president David Kahn says he will miss at least a week. Pekovic leads the...

Wolves addressing third-quarter problems

MINNEAPOLIS En route to their 90-77 loss against the Clippers on Thursday, the Timberwolves were outscored 21-20 in the third quarter and entered the game's final frame down by five points. That hardly sounds ideal, but for the Timberwolves, it was a step in the right direction. Ever since returning from its four-game, four-loss southern road trip, the team has had an acute...

Lakers-Bulls Preview

Frustrations appear to be taking their toll on the Los Angeles Lakers, who can't seem to right the ship. The Chicago Bulls, in contrast, have mostly held their own, but coach Tom Thibodeau was anything but pleased with their latest effort. The slumping Lakers try to avoid their longest road losing streak in eight seasons Monday night against a Bulls team that could be without...
