Preview: The Los Angeles Lakers will come into Sunday afternoon’s game as winners of seven straight games. The Lakers will not have to go far, as they take on the Clippers at their home arena – the Staples Center.
The Lakers have moved to 11.5 games ahead of second place Phoenix in the division. They were able to beat Golden State on Wednesday night; 115-110. Kobe Bryant once again leads the Lakers in scoring, with just over 25 points per game. The Lakers are the second best rebounding team in the NBA; averaging 44.7 rebounds per game. Pau Gasol is the big man in the paint for the Lakers, grabbing just under 11 rebounds per game. The home team – the Los Angeles Clippers have started playing better basketball.
Despite that, the Clippers were downed Friday night by the Warriors. That loss came two nights after beating the Miami Heat at home. The Clippers are in fourth place in the Pacific Division; 2.5 games behind the third place Warriors. Eric Gordon, the team’s shooting guard leads the team in scoring with just shy of 24 points per game.
Blake Griffin is grabbing nearly 13 rebounds per game, helping the Clippers rank fifth in rebounding. Our prediction for this game: This should be a fun game, with two teams from the same city going at it. The Lakers are the better team – look for them to win a close game. Lakers win 104-101.
