After beating Cleveland on Friday night in Orlando, the Magic (15-9) had to make an arduous journey to get to Saturday night’s game in Indianapolis. The team spent Friday night in northern Kentucky and flew from the Cincinnati area to Indianapolis International Airport Saturday afternoon because they couldn’t get a hotel in the host city of Sunday’s Super Bowl. However, the maddening trip didn’t disrupt the team as they downed the Indiana Pacers (16-7) 85-81.
After a tight first half which ended with the two teams tied at 39, the Magic started the third quarter on a 14-2 run led by Jason Richardson who scored half of those 14 points. Orlando outscored Indiana 23-14 in the third quarter to take a nine point lead into the final 12 minutes of play.
