Found November 19, 2012 on Orlando Magic Daily:
Arron Afflalo said after the loss to Toronto on Sunday that Orlando has to keep a defensive mentality. Even when the offense is not flowing and the team is not scoring consistently, the defensive end of the floor has to be consistent. It is where offense can be born from. That is a message Atlanta is certainly aware of with all the playoff experience still on the roster. That is how the Hawks maintained offensive consistency and fluidity in a game where shots were not falling. A forced turnover would lead to a fast break. An offensive rebound would lead to a second chance opportunity. The attack from Atlanta was constant and unforgiving in a third quarter where Atlanta finally pulled away. The Magic no longer could live on the edge as the offensive glass dried up and the turnovers kept coming from a Magic team already struggling to score points on a consistent basis. With limited fast break opportunities, Orlando's offense stagnated with reliance on mid-range jumpers and...

Jameer Nelson easing back in return

Jameer Nelson has a meager stat line -- 9.5 points per game, 6.8 assists per game, 29.3 percent field goal shooting. Of course, he also has a meager sample size of four games after missing nearly two weeks of action with a strained groin and hamstring. Very clearly, Nelson is still working his way back into game shape. Nelson is the captain for a reason. He provides a calming...

Orlando Magic Daily Podcast Episode 2

This week the Magic went 1-2 and found their offense a little bit. I review this past week's games in this week's podcast: Listen to internet radio with Orlando Magic Daily Weekend on Blog Talk Radio And since it was so garbled (I will be sure to fix that for next week), here are the Cliff's Notes version of what I said after the jump: --The Magic began...

"I don't want to sugarcoat it. It's been that...

Pistons-Magic Preview

The Orlando Magic have been brutal offensively the last two weeks, with their lone win being the exception. The Magic will try to replicate that offensive showing in Wednesday night's rematch with the Detroit Pistons, who have been inconsistent defensively. After opening the season by averaging 108.5 points in a pair of wins and scoring 93 in a loss to a Chicago team known...

Raptors come up big in fourth

Orlando can fight. That much is clear as the Magic erased a double-digit deficit from the first half and took a two-point lead into the fourth quarter. The Magic seemed like they had the momentum to roll into another big road victory. Amir Johnson had energy too. And he displayed it in going after the offensive glass and going after the ball for easy baskets. Johnson scored 13...
