Magic dig deep to close trip strong

The Magic's start could not have been worse. To both halves for that matter. The starting lineup struggled to get the offense going off the bat. Six first-quarter turnovers and seven third-quarter turnovers gave Phoenix the energy and the chances to take control fo the game. It seemed like tired legs at the end of this West Coast swing were taking over and the team was looking...

Magic Wands: A Magic fan to the end

The Magic are 24 years old this year. Nearing on the quarter-century mark of existence, the fan base has developed. Fans have grown up with the team and had the Magic for their entire lifetimes (I have, at least and have never known Orlando without the Magic as part of its identity). Before I started writing, I was a kid whose family had season tickets and followed the Magic...

More than Magic to Suns' seventh straight loss

PHOENIX -- It would be easy (not to mention predictable and reckless) to take a few point-blank shots at the coach. How about a couple of hackneyed zingers aimed at the front office or the team owner? Hey, not a problem. But as the Phoenix Suns seventh consecutive loss was being executed to imperfection on Sunday night, the clarity of their predicament became even more obvious...
DOUBLE TROUBLE

DeAndre Jordan blocks shot with two hands

Tweet   As has been the case since he entered the NBA in 2008 it’s generally a good idea to know where DeAndre Jordan is when attempting to finish around the rim because he’s one of the better shot blockers in the league. Markieff Morris of the Phoenix Suns apparently either underestimated Jordan’s skills or [...]

Alvin Gentry's Job Safe With the Suns For Now

The Phoenix Suns can only wish they were dealing the problems the Los Angeles Lakers are facing.  The Lakers have a team of stars that can't seem to figure things out.  The Suns have no one.  Their star, Steve Nash, is currently battling a broken leg in Los Angeles.  The team is sitting on a 7-15 record.  And changes need to be made.  However, Alvin Gentry appears to be...

Positive Attitude part of Van Gundy

It didn’t take long for the strong sense of humor of Stan Van Gundy to come out Tuesday afternoon.  “I’m just glad I don’t have to explain a loss,” said Van Gundy.  “Why I did this…why I did that… it’s good.” Van Gundy was a guest speaker at a luncheon for the Canisius College “cage club” at the Hyatt in downtown Buffalo.  After, he made his way over to...

Suns hope Magic cure to 7-game skid

The Phoenix Suns may be thrilled to return home. Another defeat may have the Orlando Magic feeling the same way. Opening their longest homestand of the season, the Suns attempt to avoid a seven-game skid for the first time in almost nine years Sunday night against the road-weary Magic. The Suns (7-14) have lost six straight and seven of eight, with all but one of those games coming...

Rookie Nicholson lifts Magic past slumping Suns

PHOENIX - With two straight road losses and the weight of a long five-game trip on their shoulders, the Orlando Magic needed a pick-me-up to finish their journey on a happy note on Sunday. Rookie Andrew Nicholson provided that spark with his best game as a pro, hitting 9 of 11 shots from the floor and scoring 19 of Orlando's 49 points off the bench. He hit a key jumper...
