The Magic have officially completed a sign-and trade deal that sends restricted free agent Ryan Anderson to the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for fellow forward Gustavo Ayon.
The deal was agreed to earlier this week, but Wednesday marked to end of the NBA's trade moratorium.
Anderson, a 6-foot-10 forward that can shoot the 3-pointer, completed his fourth NBA season and third in Orlando. He was a coveted free agent after posting a career-best 16.1 points and 7.7 rebounds, and being named the league's most improved player.
The Magic had the opportunity to match New Orleans' four-year, $36 million offer sheet, but declined.
Orlando gets back the 6-10 Ayon, who completed his rookie NBA season after playing professionally in Spain. He started 24 games, averaging 5.9 points and 4.9 rebounds.

Raptors Fans with NO Sympathy for Magic Fans
I’m not speaking for every Raptors fan, but the majority do feel this way. We can care less about what Dwight did to the Orlando Magic and their organization. Dwight’s lost a ton of respect for how he’s deserting a team in the way that he’s doing yet in Toronto, his fans don’t feel...

Dwight Howard: The Big Enigma
The saga that is Dwight Howard has run it’s course with me. At some point the teams of the NBA have to decide enough is enough.
The situation that Howard finds himself is 100% his fault. Last year when these trade talks were catching fire he made a decision that has created this entire mess. He decided to sign a one year extension with the team he so despises and wants to escape...

After three consecutive days of intense negotiations and talks with at least four different NBA teams, the Brooklyn Nets gave up all hope of acquiring Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard on Wednesday, and they turned their attention to giving a maximum contract to Brook Lopez instead.
