Fox Sports Florida:
Tracy McGrady, who officially announced his retirement from the NBA in August, will be honored by the Orlando Magic on Nov. 1 during their home opener against the New Orleans Pelicans.
In addition to being recognized during a center court ceremony, McGrady will serve as a color commentator during a portion of the FOX Sports Florida television broadcast.
McGrady played four seasons in Orlando (2000-2004) where he blossomed into one of the NBA's top scorers and led the Magic to the playoffs three times. He owns the team record for highest regular-season scoring average (28.1 ppg) and most points scored in a single game (62 points, March 10, 2004 vs. Washington).
In total, McGrady played 16 seasons in the NBA, winning two scoring titles and appearing in seven All-Star Games.
"I know that it will be an emotional night for me," McGrady told OrlandoMagic.com's John Denton. "I will have my kids there with me and for them to witness 18,000 people hopefully giving ...

The Spurs are definitely one of the most exciting and
talked-about teams heading into the regular season. Why wouldn’t they be after the offseason they
just had? First, Tim Duncan demanded a trade.
Then Manu Ginobili showed up with hair plugs disguising his famous bald
spot. After that, Gregg Popovich
announced his intentions to walk away from the NBA after this season...
It's not only a brand new season for the San Antonio Spurs, bit it's also a brand new set of those funny HEB commercials starring Manu Ginobili, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and now, Kawhi Leonard.
Today after practice, Ginobili sent out a photo where he and Parker look quite regal sporting fancy robes for the upcoming commercials.
It's HEB commercials time!...
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Victor Oladipo's first NBA preseason game couldn't have gone much better or, by preseason standards, couldn't have ended with more of a controversy.
The argument wasn't about whether he should have been running the offense instead of Jameer Nelson or Arron Afflalo for the final 7:39 of the Orlando Magic's 99-95 loss Wednesday night to the...
The San Antonio Spurs' 2013-14 season is drawing near and fans are getting pumped to see the men in black and silver hit the court once again.
There are many storylines heading into the Spurs' new season such as how the team will respond after losing in the NBA Finals last season, will Tony Parker's long summer catch up with him, and can Tim Duncan duplicate his performance...
Final Score: New Orleans Pelicans 99, Orlando Magic 95 This game was a showdown between two of the youngest and most talented teams in the NBA and man was this a great game! This is just what you want to see in a preseason game, no lazy play, hustle and heart even when the game ...The post New Orleans Pelicans vs. Orlando Magic Recap appeared first on The League News.
I think everyone who is familiar with Grantland’s Jonathan Abrams has their favorite story. While some remember the epic Oral History he did on the 1980′s Houston Rockets and the reflections he’s done on players like Tracy McGrady, Stephen Jackson and Korleone Young, my favorite will always be the storytelling he penned on two guys […]The post Things You Need To Listen To...
In case you don't remember what former San Antonio Spurs guard Derek Anderson said about the Spurs during his free agency in 2001, here's a reminder.
Yes, the same Derek Anderson that once publicly denounced Gregg Popovich and the Spurs for not quickly forking over the multi-millions he expected as a free agent is now singing the praises of Pop.
On media day, San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and guard Tony Parker talked about bringing Parker back slowly and not overworking him after playing a majority of the offseason for France at Eurobasket.
Playing an 82-game season followed by a late playoff run that ended in Game 7 of the NBA Finals and adding on a full Eurobasket tournament can take it's toll on a player...

AT&T Center - San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich can barely handle Manu Ginobili, the eccentric backup shooting guard that habitually unfurls high-risk passes in traffic, and utilizes a step back to generate space for a very, very difficult shot. These, um, decisions don't always end so well.
He can only take so much. Enter Marco Belinelli, the 27-year-old...
In just his second season in the NBA, San Antonio Spurs' Kawhi Leonard had the unenviable task of defending the best player on the planet - Miami Heat's LeBron James in the 2013 NBA Finals.
We all know how much of a wrecking ball James can be on the offensive end but Leonard held his own using his long arms, lateral quickness and massive hands in the Finals.

The first half was so easy, providing a glimpse of a Magic team capable of scoring in bunches, moving the ball and working together. The defense was solid, if not spectacular, and able to build a big lead.
The second half was a slog-fest. A battle of wills that looks like a pure preseason game. Turnovers, fouls, poor spacing, some confusion...
Previously on TNLP, we featured a story about Indiana Pacers center Roy Hibbert getting buff after working out with San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan.
For those of you wondering if Tim charged Roy any sort of price to work out with him, it appears that Duncan didn’t charge Roy anything to do so according to New York Daily News Frank Isola:
Roy Hibbert went to Texas this summer...
Orlando Pinstriped Post
The Magic opened up training camp last week and are preparing for their first preseason game Wednesday night against the Pelicans in Jacksonville. Orlando will finally get the chance to grow and develop on the court rather than behind the closed doors at Amway Center.
