It doesn’t take more than five minutes of talking to Nuggets forward/center Malik Allen to know he is one of the most level-headed, forward-thinking players in the NBA. He knows it will be some time before his contract status is worked out for next season. Allen’s contract expired and now he’ll wait for phone calls this summer with the hopes that one of them is from his current employer, the Denver Nuggets. “I’m going to relax and see what happens,” Allen said. “It was a pretty crazy second half of the year with coach (George Karl) being out and (Kenyon Martin) being injured.” Asked if he’d like to return to the Nuggets, Allen said “I definitely would. I had a great relationship with coach Karl.” The Nuggets were Allen’s seventh team in his current nine-year career. He played well in spot duty for the Nuggets, averaging 2.1 points and 1.6 rebounds in 8.9 minutes per game. Allen appeared in 51 games during the regular season.
