By Mark Perlman-PriceSportsonastick.comApril 16, 2009 Brothers and eccentric billionaires Joe and Gavin Maloof stated at a press conference yesterday that they are “pretty sure” they still own the Sacramento Kings.  “We’re about 95% sure,” said an unshaven Gavin to reporters yesterday in a press conference given from his bedroom on the top floor of the Palms, the hotel in Las Vegas owned by the brothers.  “I mean, I haven't seen any official documents lately -- I think we used them as Scrabble score sheets one really weird night -- but Joe was telling me last night at the bar that our team was having a bad year – at least I think that’s what he said.  It was so loud and I was already on my 9th cocktail and had Paris Hilton and Andy Dick hanging off of each of my arms.”  A bad year may be an understatement.  The Kings are an NBA worst 16 and 65 and have locked up the first pick in next year’s draft.  The Maloof brothers have been arguably the NBA’s most unique owners in the nine years they’ve owned the Kings.  But many have questioned their focus in dedication to a team that was once inches away from the NBA finals – and now is the worst in the league.  “Trust me, we care about the Sacramento Kings,” said Joe Maloof to reporters, emerging from the bathroom in his brother’s bedroom where he apparently slept the previous night.  “We go to Sacramento almost every year.”
