Phoenix Suns center Marcin Gortat used Twitter as a way to let everyone know that he wants Stan Van Gundy as the new coach of the team. The Suns parted ways with head coach Alvin Gentry on Friday after the team started 13-28 on the season. They currently have the worst record in the Western Conference. Here’s what Gortat tweeted: SVG !!!! — Marcin Gortat (@MGortat) January 18, 2013 SVG is out there….. — Marcin Gortat (@MGortat) January 18, 2013 Gortat, 28, was coached by Van Gundy when both were part of the Orlando Magic franchise. Even though Gortat had more opportunities to score and got more playing time when he got traded to the Suns in December 2010, he seems to appreciate all the effort (at least defensively) Van Gundy showed while he coached him. This became evident when Gortat blasted the Suns for being “soft” when he joined the team. Gortat’s points per game, shooting-percentage and rebounds are all down from last year, however.

Magic rally short again against Mavs

When the Magic play with the sense of desperation they played with when they were down by 10 points with about four minutes to play, they can be a pretty scary team to play. The effort that is already typically pretty high gets ratched higher with that extra level of focus. The problem is that the focus is not always there. Or not where it needs to be. And Dallas had the answers...
