Kobe’s salary will certainly be a burden on the Lakers.credit: thewifehatessports.com Under the new CBA, all NBA franchises were granted the right to an amnesty clause, meaning that they could cut ties with a player that they had previously signed without suffering the salary cap consequences. The team will still have to pay the player, but it gives them the financial flexibility to potentially replace him while still obeying the salary cap. Several players have been amnestied, including the likes of Gilbert Arenas and Rashard Lewis. Basically, this is a “get out of jail free” card for general managers who vastly overpay average players. With Kobe Bryant’s salary cracking an unbelievable $30 million next season, Mark Cuban raised the question that many Lakers fans would never consider; should they amnesty Kobe? Via ESPN: Those two passions intersected when Cuban made a suggestion Friday morning that a purple-and-gold fan base might consider blasphemous. “If you look at their payroll, even if Dwight (Howard) comes back, you’ve got to ask the question: Should they amnesty Kobe?” Cuban said during an appearance on ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM’s “Ben and Skin Show.” It’s hard to see this ever happening, but when you look at his salary, it’s not really a totally ridiculous question. Plus, you have to believe that Mark Cuban is just trying to stir the pot a little bit. Which, he very well might accomplish. -Mark Evans, Assistant Manager/Editor of Content Follow us on Twitter   The post Mark Cuban Questions Whether Lakers Should Amnesty Kobe appeared first on Pass The Pill.

Mark Cuban Gets Under the Skin of the Lakers With Kobe/Amnesty Talk

Mark Cuban is one of those guys that you either love or hate. The guy is brash, often loud, and definitely very opinionated. Whatever your opinion of Mark Cuban is there is one thing that is for sure--love him or hate him,...

For Heaven's Sake, Don't Make Me Defend Mark Cuban

Lakers Call Mark Cuban’s Remarks To Amnesty Kobe Inappropriate

Yesterday Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban suggested that the Lakers possibly amnesty Kobe Bryant and his $30 million contract in the off-season. Cuban went on to say that he wouldn’t amnesty his star Dirk Nowitzki though, so the comments made no sense. “If you look at their payroll, even if Dwight (Howard) comes back, you’ve got to ask the question: Should they amnesty...

Mark Cuban has some suggestions for improving NBA Slam Dunk Contest

The NBA Slam Dunk Contest is not exactly getting better as the years go on. Despite the efforts of some of their fellow players, superstars rarely ever feel inclined to participate in the event anymore. Mark Cuban Suggest Lakers Use Amnesty on Kobe, But He Wouldn’t Do it For Dirk

Cuban has been enjoying taking shots at the Lakers season, probably because the Mavericks aren’t doing that much better. On Friday night, Mark Cuban raised the question of whether or not the Los Angeles Lakers could benefit from releasing Kobe Bryant through the amnesty provision next season. Mark Cuban Wonders If Lakers Should Amnesty Kobe Bryant

Huh? Mark Cuban went on ESPN Dallas radio Friday morning and openly wondered if the Lakers should amnesty Kobe Bryant to free up their $100 million payroll next season if Dwight Howard stays in LA. Dirk doesn’t expect a Dallas trade

Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki doesn’t expect his team to make a trade. It’s not a surprise that he’s saying this as the teams owner Mark Cuban has been saying the team has “nothing going on” for a while now. Only difference is I wouldn’t necessarily trust Cuban he’s got to keep his cards hidden till the right time. Dirk well he’s got a good relationship with...
