Dirk Nowitzki scored 27 points and the Dallas Mavericks rallied from 14 points down in the second quarter to beat the Charlotte Bobcats 101-96 on Thursday night.
Dallas won its second straight - improving to 15-0 all-time against the Bobcats - although the victories have come against lottery-bound Washington and Charlotte.
Jason Terry added 18 points for the Mavs, who had lost eight of their previous 11.
Corey Maggette scored 21 points to lead the league-worst Bobcats (6-36).
After trailing most of the first half, Dallas took control with a third-quarter surge fueled by consecutive 3-pointers from Nowitzki.
Charlotte was behind by 17 in the final quarter before pulling to 99-96 on D.J. Augustin's layup with 19 seconds left. But Nowitzki converted two free throws on his team's next possession to clinch the victory.

Mavericks general manager Donnie Nelson didn't make any moves prior to Thursday's trade deadline because he says the club is in good shape to make a postseason run and positioned well to be a serious player in free agency this summer.
"We like our team," Nelson said Thursday. "We like the flexibility we have this summer. We need to get some healthy bodies...
DALLAS (AP) -- Dallas Mavericks starting center Brendan Haywood is out again.
Haywood is expected to miss at least five games with a sprained right knee, which he sustained midway through the third quarter Thursday night against Charlotte.

DALLAS -- There are lazy assumptions being made regarding the Dallas Mavericks and their cap. There is inaccurate information being issued regarding the money Deron Williams can be paid if he joins the Mavs in the Summer of 2012. But there is nothing dull or unclear about the facts, or about the intentions expressed in recent hours by Deron or by Mavs GM Donnie Nelson.

The Dallas Mavericks are getting some relief after that dreaded and ugly stretch of nine games in 12 days.
The defending NBA champions, the league's oldest lineup with all its starters and two top reserves being at least 10-year veterans, have a chance to regroup. They are in a nearly two-week span without having to play on consecutive nights.

Things haven’t been going real well for Dallas Mavericks forward Lamar Odom this season and he’s reportedly blaming his wife (much like we did) for his struggles.
Odom hasn’t played well since being traded to the Mavs and he was even supposed to spend some time in the D-League to get his head straight. Well, a report by In Touch says Odom believes his on-court struggles are...
Lamar Odom’s unhappiness has been well-documented this season. Since the Lakers traded him to the Mavericks, Odom has not been the same. Rumors of his marital issues with Khloe Kardashian have added to the speculation that Odom is not a happy camper, and a couple of recent reports from gossip magazines and websites are adding to that speculation.
According to In Touch Weekly (via...
As in the words of The Rock, “finally the Mavericks have come back to Dallas!”, and they won. Dallas faced one of the lowest winning teams in the NBA tonight and came out with a victory, barely.
Why do I say barely? Well, there was a point in time during the game, that Dallas actually let the Wizards have the lead and gave them the hope of a win that I’m sure was not in the...
Before the Charlotte-at-Mavs game, GM Donnie Nelson talked of ‘landing a big fish,’ of ‘having cake’ and of ‘eating it, too.’ And then Dallas feasted on Bobcat, a 101-96 win serving as a sidedish to all the Deron sugarplums that are head-dancing as the Mavs, says Nelson, ‘feel like we can contend this year and be active in the market.’ Let's serve it up in Mavs Donuts!
First of all, I’m so pissed that Michael Pena of Red 94 stole my thunder. I was all over that line from Houston Rockets color analyst/balding community icon Clyde Drexler about Tyrus Thomas not having “enough sand in his pants.” The game was well into the third quarter and the Bobcats were already down by [...]
