O.J. Mayo scored 22 points and the Dallas Mavericks held on to beat the Detroit Pistons 102-99 on Friday night when Charlie Villanueva missed a 3-pointer in the final seconds. Dallas began the night 4 1/2 games behind eighth-place Utah in the race for the last playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Mavericks blew a 15-point lead in the fourth quarter, allowing Detroit to go ahead 97-96 on a 3-pointer by Khris Middleton. Dirk Nowitzki made two straight shots to put Dallas ahead by three. It was 100-99 after Villanueva caught Jose Calderon's airball and made a layup with 6 seconds left. Darren Collison made two free throws for the Mavericks, and Villanueva missed from the left corner. It was the opener of a four-game road trip for the Mavericks that might represent their last chance to start making up ground and extend their streak of playoff appearances to 13 seasons. Mayo went 5 of 8 from 3-point range and teammate Mike James was 4 of 6. Dallas shot 11 of 21 from beyond...

From the YouTube description: Ever wanted to see a reality TV show about an NBA Champion and MVP that just happens to have wicked skills off the...

Rick Carlisle to media: ‘Go f*** yourselves’

The playoffs are slowly slipping away for the 27-33 Dallas Mavericks, and as a result head coach Rick Carlisle is starting to show some frustration. Injuries and inconsistent play have forced Carlisle to use 19 different starting lineups in 60 games this season, which is the most in the league and six more than the Mavs used all of last season. Carlisle met with the media on Friday...

Mavericks waive G Jones, creating roster spot

The Dallas Mavericks have waived guard Dominique Jones, creating an open spot on their roster. The former first-round pick was in his third season with Dallas, averaging four points and 2.9 assists in 29 games. He started three times. The 24-year-old Jones played in just five of 30 games before he was let go as Mike James' role expanded behind Darren Collison. James has started...

Vince Carter Rehab Clinic That Charged $27k Per Person Is Shutting Down

Were you aware Vince Carter had a drug rehab facility in Bunnell, Fla.? Your answer is probably no, which is one of the reasons the clinic is closing their doors and shutting down. In 2009, the Vince Carter Sanctuary was established costing a reported $8 million to launch, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal. In addition to the $8 million, Carter and his mother Michelle Carter...

The Dallas Mavericks have struggled this season. Currently sitting at 27-33, the Mavs have found themselves on the outside looking in as far as the playoffs go. One can only imagine how the struggles in Dallas have taken a toll on the team and coaches. Injuries have taken their toll on the team and has [...]

Corey Maggette hopes for one more chance

This season has been a "body-saving" one for Corey Maggette. The veteran guard has bounced around the league for more than a decade now, haunted perhaps by his penchant for taking a lot of shots to score his points and various injuries. This summer he, and his expiring contract, were traded from Charlotte to Detroit in the Ben Gordon deal. It seemed when that deal...

Mark Cuban Gets Thank-You Tweet After Loaning Mavericks’ Private Plane to Chicago Bulls (Photo)

So, this is what “Your car broke down? Sure, I’ll give you a lift” looks like when the people involved are billionaires. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban lent the team’s private plane to the Chicago Bulls last weekend after the Bulls had some problems with the plane they use to ferry the team around the league. The situation was apparently pretty bad — one radio analyst aboard...

Detroit Pistons do something right in loss to Mavericks

Lawrence Frank, take note. This is how you coach a rebuilding basketball team. With Frank dealing with a family issue in New Jersey, Brian Hill was the acting head coach for the second straight game. The Detroit Pistons had lost three straight coming into this one and it wasn’t going to be easy against the [...]

CC video of the day: 'Dirk Dynasty'

I have personally never heard of the TV show "Duck Dynasty" but apparently it is quite popular and has a huge following. So leave it to the Mavericks to jump on the bandwagon and create a spoof on the title of the TV to create the "Dirk Dynasty." In the video, you can see Dirk Nowitzki's mug plastered on cast members including owner Mark Cuban's face...
