Shawn Marion had 20 points, and O.J. Mayo and Vince Carter scored 15 apiece as the Dallas Mavericks fought off a late Orlando surge and beat the Magic 111-105 on Sunday night. The Mavericks led by 13 in the fourth quarter, before the Magic pulled within a basket in the final minute. Dallas earned its seventh straight road victory in its series against Orlando. The Mavericks now have five days off before hosting division-leader San Antonio on Friday. Glen Davis led Orlando with 24 points, followed by Jameer Nelson with 20 and J. J. Redick's 18. The Magic have lost three of their last four games and also fell for the seventh straight time to an opponent with a sub-.500 record. Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said Dirk Nowitzki, who played in his 15th game following offseason knee surgery, may need until February to get back to full strength. The former MVP finished with 12 points and seven rebounds. He scored six points in the first half, but was active with some early assists...

Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki Passes the Torch in All-Star Appearances

An argument could be made that Dirk Nowitzki never had a shot at this year's All-Star Game because of his injury.  But an equally compelling argument could be made that Nowitzki's streak of consecutive All-Star appearances was inevitably going to end, and this year was as good as any for that to happen.  Nowitzki is just now coming to terms with it, but the league is getting...

Mavericks finding ways to dig out of hole

"We are digging out of a hole," said Mavs coach Rick Carlisle, a truth as Dallas entered Sunday, and the second half of the NBA schedule, with a 17-24 record. But the Mavs exited Orlando with a 111-105 victory, a win that suggests that while this team remains flawed, it is at least armed with a shovel and a pickax. A few days ago, the Mavericks were 10 games below .500...

Dallas Mavericks are now 1-8 in overtime games for the season

After losing a heart-breaker of a game to the Oklahoma City Thunder, 111-114 in overtime, the Dallas Mavericks are now on the road to regroup the will power that got them these last 4 wins. Even though Dallas lost to Oklahoma City, it was still a good game and the Mavs didn’t give up. It took a while for some of them to warm up, but the good thing of it was that the rest of the...

Kevin Durant Drops 52, Mike James Lives For The Moment

Let it be known that in the [I tried to count all the games three times and came up with three different numbers between 500 and 700] game of the 2012/13 NBA season, Kevin Durant became the first to achieve 50 points.  Durant dropped a career-high 52, actually; 21 of which came at the free throw line (on the same number of attempts).  Shawn Marion, who gave up 17 of the 52, thought...

You’ve been Branded! EB is starting to get comfortable with his new sixth man role, and Friday’s game was his fourth in a row scoring in double-digits, including a sweet season high 20 point...

Knicks vs. Nets: How It Became A Rivalry

For 35 years, the all-time series between the New York Knicks and New Jersey Nets were lackluster at best. The three playoff series’ that they had weren’t exactly classics, the most recent ending in a sweep of the Knicks by the Nets when Jason Kidd and Vince Carter were just running over guys like Stephon Marbury, and an Alan Houston at the end of his career. Now, after a move...
