DALLAS -- The Dallas Mavericks rode a smothering second quarter to an easy 119-96 victory Monday night over the Sacramento Kings at American Airlines Center. The Mavericks (11-10) won their third in a row to inch over .500 for the first time since Nov. 21. The Kings (7-13) had their three-game winning streak snapped. They lost their 17th consecutive regular-season game in Dallas. O.J. Mayo led the Mavericks with 19 points, and Chris Kaman added 18. Dallas coach Rick Carlisle used nine players for at least 19 minutes but none more than 29. Derek Fisher, Dahntay Jones, Darren Collison and rookie Jae Crowder also scored in double figures for the Mavs. DeMarcus Cousins and Francisco Garcia scored 25 each for the Kings, with Garcia knocking down seven 3-pointers. Sacramento tried to make things interesting in the third quarter, as Garcia's sixth trey of the evening cut what was a once a 28-point deficit to 77-66. The Mavericks were back up 88-70 by the end of the third, and t...
BEST OF MAXIM
This past week has been a trying one for the City of Dallas, the Texas Rangers traded the face of their franchise, Michael Young, to the Philadelphia Phillies, the Dallas Cowboys had tragedy to hit the team with the death of one of their own and another facing charges in the accident and our thoughts and prayers go out to both families effected by the accident.
We are now 20 games...
Commenting on an incident during the Kings-Mavericks game when DeMarcus Cousins hit him in the groin, O.J. Mayo said, "Man, that guy has mental issues."
Now that’s Dallas Mavericks Basketball at it’s best! The Mavs used their momentum from the 2 previous wins at Phoenix and Houston to their carry-over into tonight’s game and it paid off. O J Mayo led the Mavs with 19 points by shooting 6 of 9 from the field and connecting on 3 of his 4 three point attempts, but it wasn’t just Mayo tonight, it was a collective effort by...
The Mavericks have won three straight games, which is all anybody seems to be talking about as they prepare to take on the Celtics on Wednesday. That streak would be a sign of a team on a roll, if not for the four losses in five games that preceded the current streak or the fact that they have the same number of three-game losing streaks — two — as three-game winning streaks...
With 3:25 left in the first half of Dallas Mavericks’ 119-96 blowout win over the Sacramento Kings, Mavs guard OJ Mayo appeared to be the recipient of a closed-fist punch to the groin from DeMarcus Cousins. The two exchanged words and were both handed the standard NBA cop-out double-technical foul. When asked about the altercation after the game, Mayo summed up exactly how everyone...
Hopes were that Dirk Nowitzki would be back in action this month following surgery in October, but Dirk has told reporters he does not expect to be back soon, indicating he has “a long way to go.” He said swelling has kept him from returning, although he has avoided any setbacks. As of now, expect an early January return, maybe around January 12, which is the start of a 4 game...
Mayo's entire career has been turned around by his moving to Dallas
Drafted third overall in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves and traded on draft night to Memphis out of USC, O.J. Mayo's future career in the NBA seemed to be headed in a direction like that of other shooting guards with a similar skill set to his, such as Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, or...
Dahntay Jones has been a noted dunker since his days of doing celebratory pushups at Duke University. Nearing his 32nd birthday, he’s getting up there a bit, but make no mistake about it: Dahntay’s still got the bunnies to put somebody on a poster when given the opportunity. Last night, second-year player Patrick Patterson found this out firsthand after throwing a regrettable...
DALLAS (AP) -- O.J. Mayo scored 19 points and the Dallas Mavericks took control with 31-3 run in the first half to win their 17th straight regular-season home game against Sacramento with a 119-96 victory over the Kings on Monday night.
Chris Kaman, playing on a sprained left ankle he suffered last week, scored 16 of his 18 points in the first half for Dallas.
DeMarcus Cousins is a tool. If you watched the game last night, you saw Cousins and Mayo get into it after Cousins took a shot at Mayo below the belt while scrapping for position near the basket. If you missed it, here’s the video: Punches him pretty squarely with the side of his fist. Mayo [...]

Every morning, we will give you five things from the night before in the NBA to start your day.
1: Hold the Mayo
There were two players that were seeing a major increase in role entering this season and a chance to really find their way in the NBA.
James Harden went from the best player off the bench for the Thunder to the lead player for a young Rockets team with Playoff dreams...
You can't go too long without hearing another complaint about Sacramento Kings forward DeMarcus Cousins. The latest one comes courtesy of Dallas Mavericks guard O.J. Mayo who called out Cousins for punching him in the groin during their game on Monday. The incident was caught on tape and confirmed.Just minutes later, the two were called for a double-technical foul after mixing...
Dallas Mavericks guard OJ Mayo was rumored to be a locker room headache when he was with the Grizzlies. So it seems rather fitting that he would have advice for Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins. During Monday night’s match up between the Mavs and Kings, Mayo was called for a technical after confronting Cousins because [...]
