The Orlando Magic's last two victories have come against division leaders. They just haven't been able to get the job done against teams below .500. Orlando will try to avoid a seventh consecutive defeat to an opponent with a losing record when the Dallas Mavericks seek a seventh straight road win in this series Sunday night. After ending a 10-game skid with a 104-101 victory over the Pacific Division-leading Los Angeles Clippers on Jan. 12, Orlando was routed 120-91 by league-worst Washington on Monday. The Magic (14-25) rebounded with one of their better performances of the season, a 97-86 victory over Central Division-leading Indiana on Wednesday, but they opened a stretch of five in a row against teams with losing records with a 106-100 loss to Charlotte on Friday. "We're just still maturing as a group on how to (play at a high level) night in and night out," said swingman Arron Afflalo, who scored a team-high 23 points. Orlando, loser of seven of eigh...

Nikola Vucevic scores 14, grabs 11 rebounds in loss

Nikola Vucevic should be owned in all fantasy leagues. He's owned in 79 percent of Yahoo leagues, which seems low since fantasy owners should a) love double-doubles, b) love blocked shots and c) high shooting percentages. This is a guy who set the Magic's franchise record with 29 rebounds on New Year's Eve. Think about that for a second. This is a franchise that Shaquille...

Magic rally short again against Mavs

When the Magic play with the sense of desperation they played with when they were down by 10 points with about four minutes to play, they can be a pretty scary team to play. The effort that is already typically pretty high gets ratched higher with that extra level of focus. The problem is that the focus is not always there. Or not where it needs to be. And Dallas had the answers...

Magic not quite together against Bobcats

It was the kind of night where nothing seemed to go right for Orlando. Even with a chance to win the game. Arron Afflalo was trying to force the action, something Orlando was not doing for much of the previous three quarters as the team tried to bounce back from a rough second and third quarter. Orlando finally had the urgency to try and push and impose its will on Charlotte...

Magic not likely interested in Rudy Gay

We are about a month away from the trade deadline and so trade rumors will begin to really pick up. The Magic figure to be at the center of a lot of trade discussions as they try to continue this transition and position themselves to get back into title contention. Nobody is quite sure what that means yet or how that will come about. The proven routes are to find a star in...

Boston Celtics "covet" Magic's J.J. Redick

The Boston Celtics want J.J. Redick. David Baumann tweeted this rumor Saturday morning: "As Feb. 21 #NBA trade deadline looms, sources tell me the Boston Celtics covet Orlando Magic SG J.J. Redick" And why wouldn't they? The Magic shooting guard is having a career year: 14.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists, .5 steals and .1 blocks with 87 3-pointers made in...
