Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has always been an odd duckling. But in reality, this is what has helped make him one of the most successful businessmen in the entire country. Regardless of what we think about Cuban’s sometimes repellent personality, he has been at the forefront in the business world.

For better or worse, he's trying to continue this trend. Cuban noted recently that his Mavericks will start accepting cryptocurrency for payments next season. That includes Bitcoin and the lesser-known Ethereum.

“We will be adding a crypto payment ability for next season. We will accept BTC, Eth, possibly some other currencies. (That’s) to be determined,” Cuban said, via Coindesk.

This is a clear indication that fans might be able to use cryptocurrency as a way to purchase tickets next season.

Among other entities in the crypto-based money market, Bitcoin has seen a volatile existence as of late. The ebbs and flows have forced some to sell off in a panic, leading others to put up stock in the currency at an alarmingly low rate. Then, the market takes off — creating huge financial gains in the process. The next ebb then takes over, and the vicious cycle is repeated all over again.

Cuban himself is said to have a net worth of $3.3 billion. He’s seen as a potential challenger to President Donald Trump in the 2020 election. And the two don’t necessarily get along too well. And of course, in the sports world, Cuban is a volatile figure as well. Heck, he recently took on the massive National Football League with some scathing comments.

Our data also suggests that Cuban is the fourth-most popular owner in the sports world right now, behind Michael Jordan, Jerry Jones and Robert Kraft. What do these four have in common? Well, they absolutely love being in the news.

Sure, Cuban may simply be talking out of his back end for more publicity. But if that’s not the case, it will ultimately lead to an uptick in value for both Bitcoin and Ethereum. After all, a man worth over three bills putting his stock behind an entity is no small thing.
