The NBA released the 2012-2013 schedules earlier tonight and the Minnesota Timberwolves will play on national television (ESPN & TNT) six times during the season.
This is exciting news for a franchise that will feature star players Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio, along with the 2011 #2 overall pick Derrick Williams and second year head coach Rick Adelman. And these national games aren’t against any scrubs either. The T’wolves will be playing the best teams in the Western Conference. They have two games against the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers, and one each with the Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs.
The T’wolves were in the thick of the playoff race last season before their point guard (Rubio) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament against the Lakers. From that point on the T’wolves slowly drifted back in the playoff picture until Love suffered a concussion that knocked him out of the last few games of the season. Minnesota finished 26-40, missing the pl...
BEST OF MAXIM
Granted, I’m no fashionisto (wha?), but I can’t imagine I’m the only one who believes that Timberwolves star Kevin Love looks certifiably ridiculous in the duds he will be sporting for the London Olympics Opening Ceremony event on Friday. What’s the deal with the beret? It reminds me of when those French chicks make fun [...]
MINNEAPOLIS The Timberwolves officially signed Russian guard Alexey Shved on Wednesday. The team did not announce the terms of the deal, which is reported to be for three years and 10 million.
Just hours after trading guard Wayne Ellington to Memphis for forward Dante Cunningham, the team confirmed one of the signings that may have helped to push Ellington out. The Timberwolves...
Well played. At some point during a Team USA flight Wednesday evening, Timberwolves star Kevin Love took a gander around the cabin and noticed a lot of his teammates were well on their ways to Dreamland, so he snapped a photo and posted it, much to the delight of everyone. Tweeting “I win,” Love even managed [...]
When Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor named David Kahn the president of basketball operations, he expected to have a playoff-contending team by now. Instead, in his four years on the job he has made more trades than times Dwight Howard has changed his mind about being traded, drafted more point guards than an apartment complex could support, and traded away more draft...
Ricky Rubio returns to Colorado next week for another examination of his knee.
David Kahn has assembled a roster with position flexibility.
MINNEAPOLIS The Minnesota Timberwolves announced their 2012-13 schedule on Thursday, which will open with a Nov. 2 matchup at the Target Center against the Sacramento Kings.
The Timberwolves will be featured on national television 14 times next season, the most since they appeared 19 times in 2005-06. Seven of those games will take place at the Target Center. They will also appear...
The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the signing of free-agent forward Andrei Kirilenko.
"We are pleased that Andrei has decided to resume his NBA career with the Minnesota Timberwolves," said David Kahn, Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations. "Over his time in the NBA he has proven to be one of the best defensive players in the world. His ability...
MINNEAPOLIS Andrei Kirilenko is 11 years older and set to make more than 11 times the money than he did the first time he jumped to the NBA. He's no longer a fresh-faced rookie but rather one of the final pieces in a Minnesota Timberwolves roster David Kahn has been reassembling for weeks.
Kirilenko's signing came immediately after the Timberwolves finalized a trade Friday...
After going back home to play ball in Russia last season, Andrei Kirilenko will be back in the NBA this year. The former Utah Jazz small forward has signed a 2-year 20 million dollar with the Minnesota Timberwolves. This coming after Minnesota has recently cleared some space for the signing of Kirilenko Via trade involving [...]
