A long time ago in an era untouched by reality show drivel, MTV aired videos, and the network had people called VJs who would serve as an intermediary between viewers and said music videos. Some of them became legends. The names of the original lineup featuring Martha Quinn, Nina Blackwood, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter and JJ Jackson still evoke nostalgic memories for people of my age group. Yes, I’m old.

Anyway, one of the stalwarts from the 1990s era of video jockeying was Kennedy, an outrageous, nerdish and entertaining young lady who was just alternative enough without trying to be she became a cult hero to “Daria” fans all over the country, possibly inspiring the likes of geek goddesses such as Olivia Munn.

Kennedy has written a book about her heady experiences as a household name way back when entitled “The Kennedy Chronicles” . In it, she regales readers with a story about how Michael Jordan, then a member of the Chicago Bulls and now the majority owner and chairman of the Charlotte Bobcats, apparently tried to win her virginity during a game of dice.

Via TMZ:

Kennedy — who was a huge MTV VJ back in the ’90s — details the encounter in her new book “The Kennedy Chronicles” … explaining how she was having dinner with MJ and Russell Simmons at the Bowery Bar in NYC, when Michael broke out some dice.

Before long, Kennedy says, Jordan decided it was “time to play for something” … and said, “If I win, you come back to my hotel room with me tonight.”

Kennedy says she freaked out because she was a virgin  … so she asked if they could play for Knicks tickets instead.

And that’s when Jordan allegedly reminded Kennedy he had a wife — and offered her Nets tickets as a consolation.

Mich. St. upset with Michigan over spear planted on field

Holding a 28-11 lead over its rival late, Michigan State could have run out the clock and headed home with a 17-point victory. Instead, the Spartans chose to run the ball with Jeremy Langford, who scored a 5-yard touchdown with 28 seconds to play. After the game, quarterback Connor Cook gave fans some insight into exactly why that decision was made. According to both Cook and head...

Agent: Joe Maddon prepared to sit out season if need be

Free-agent manager Joe Maddon doesn't have many viable options if he wants to manage a ballclub in the 2015 season. Three teams (Houston Astros, Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks) have already hired managers, and that really only leaves him with a few choices. The Minnesota Twins are the only club with an actual job opening, but that would be a downgrade from his previous...

Report: Chandler Jones could miss rest of season

The New England Patriots could be without another key defensive player for the remainder of the season. Report: Army football enticed recruits with alcohol, women

At a time when few things shock us around the college football world, this has to be a bit surprising. Tom Roeder of the Colorado Springs Gazette is reporting that the Army football program committed multiple infractions of NCAA policies by enticing recruits with alcohol and women. In documents acquired by Roeder and the Gazette, there is evidence that team officials put recruits...

Report: Kobe viewed Dwight Howard's departure as 'positive'

Kobe Bryant seems to be pretty pissed off these days. Although the Black Mamba claims certain things don’t bother him, you can tell by his psychotic work ethic and responses to media questions that the 36 year-old Los Angeles Lakers guard has a chip on his shoulder. Bryant, who’s never had an issue with speaking his opinion, has once again let his thoughts be known on ESPN and...

Federal judge blocks New Jersey sports betting law

Earlier this month, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed a bill into law that overhauled some of the state’s ban on sports betting. Once that bill was signed, many figured it was just the first step in the process and that there would be challenges to the law. That challenge came in the form of the NFL and other professional sports leagues this week, who filed for an injunction...
