Renaldo Balkman was drafted by the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2006 NBA Draft and went on to have a brief, uneventful career with New York and the Denver Nuggets before traveling overseas to play in the Philippine Basketball Association.

Apparently during a late game situation Balkman was aggravated by an official’s call, and that eventually led to Balkman choking one of his own teammates, Arwind Santos.

Balkman has since taken to Twitter to apologize for the incident:

  • I know it's cliche-ish but, here goes..."you can take the "N" out of the ghetto, but not the ghetto out of the "N."
What a joke, and he probably wonders why he's not in the NBA.
  • I find this comment to be incredibly insulting, racist and predjudice...................and could not agree more!
What a POS, had to go out of country to find a team.
  • I buy almost everything except food and clothing from online auctions. .Most people aren't aware of the almost unbelievable deals that they can get from online auction sites. Ther site that has best deals is savebang,,CoM

and I checked with the Better Business Bureau and was told that it is all legitHow they can sell gift

cards, laptops, cameras, and all kinds of goodies that we all want for 50-90% off, I don't know. I do

know that I bought my son an iPad there for less than $100 and my husband a $250 Loews gift

cards for $48.Why would I even think about shopping anyplace else?

  • my sentiments exactly!

  • Why the N word, the guy is a jerk plain and simple.
  • maybe because ni**gers are annoying, loud, violent animals?
  • Oh yes...Captain Keyboard Bravery
  • what are you 12 years old or maybe 28 and still living in your moms basement, only a child or someone with a mental deficiency would write such a post, stop attempting to rile people up, sad loser.
  • Because I doubt they would have the balls to say that to the guys face or any other person of that complexion to their face. Maybe Elfuego and stratcat82D never got picked to ball any type of sports. I guess the blacks were picked and left you lames sitting on the bench.
  • Do you know what n**ger means? It is a very old term that originally had nothing to do with being black. It means ignorant, and you my friend epitomize the meaning of the word. Therefore, you are a n**ger!
  • Actually you are wrong. It derives from Portuguese slave traders from the word "negro" which means black. "Google" it.

Race has nothing to do with this guys actions, if it was a white guy what would you say? Pure ignorance was brought up by the person who brought up race.
  • Do you know what n**ger means. Simply put, it is a very old word that has nothing to do with being black. It means ingnorant and you epitomize the meaning of the word.
  • What a shame to see a talented individual who was given the breaks in life in order to succeed - and then implodes. He is only shooting himself in the foot by creating an image that no respectable coach would want on his team no matter the talent level. It would be difficult for a coach to accept this behavior from LeBron James nevertheless from Renaldo Blackman.
  • I guess the Philippine Basketball Association are so hard up for American basketball players that you can almost get away with anything.

Before Renaldo Balkman was drafted by the New York Knicks in the first round of the 2006 NBA Draft and went on to have a brief, uneventful career with New York and the Denver Nuggets before traveling overseas to play in the Philippine Basketball Association, he wasn't ever a starter (came off the bench)when he played college basketball at the University of South Carolina and after 1 year, applied for the NBA draft.

The "one and done" college basketball disease that produces inferior professional players.

That's why he fizzled out in the NBA and will probably do the same overseas.

  • I know its cliche-ish, but "You can the a racist out of the ignorant, but you can't take the ignorance out of a racist.

Go down to the "ghetto" and say that, instead of typing it from your mom's basement.
  • Thank You FlameMePlease...Excellent Post.
  • he can't he's not able to leave his house without parental supervision.
  • Limester that was funny! Good one that made my day.
  • I guess most of you assumed that the "N" word meant N**g*r. Does that make YOU the racist? No, it makes you an A$$ for assuming. FYI: I've been married to my high school sweetheart for 43 years. I also would like to mention that she's African American.
When we got married she was a negro, and I was a white boy. Then she turned black, and I became whitey, then she became an African American, and I became a caucasion. Sometimes we laugh about the changes, but one thing never changed, we still love each other because we didn't let bigotry control our lives, and we kept our sense of humor.
Oh, and by the way, I take offense to all of you who call me a racist...check the mirror.
  • That young man needs to be fired permanently from playing basketball again. I think that people who play sports and get into a fight, they need to be fired and never play again. Especially those overseas who play soccer. Innocent people lose the lives over that game. Anybody that can take a GAME so seriously needs help.
  • It is a shame that racism came to play here. The thing is that I quit watching pro basketball years ago when Sprewell choked his coach and got a fine of $10K. 10K to these guys is a quarter to you and I. Pro basketball players have and do get away with anything they wan to get away with. They are spoiled punks. White and black alike. A white BBall player, (forgot his name) just lately trashed his house after he lost it and was evicted. They are overpaid chumps. They play BBall all their lives and that is all they no. They get a scholarship that everyone else pays for and then skips out of college as soon as the all might dollar yells at them. Uneducated idiots, damn near all of them. Once in a while you get a nice guy but they are then ridiculed. In these days and times it is almost a sin to be a good guy in pro sports. Nothing will happen to this idiot and that is why I quit watching Pro BBall. Pro football is next on my list. More and more of them are only about the dollar. Flacko got a huge deal and said he just wanted to get the respect he deserves. I never got respect for how much money I made. It was for being a good man, a good father, a good husband and a good man.
  • ZLOCO1,

Stop critizing people for wanting to earn a buck. These players have a short window to make that kind of money, and I don't blame them in the least for taking advantage of it. When their career is over they can go back to school and not have to worry about student loans. Why are people always bashing those who have more? It's a very jealous response that has been endorsed by our government and media. Your taught that if you work hard you can achieve your goals in America and live well. Today when you achieve those goals your called a selfish prick and couldn't possibly be a decent human.
