Only the New York Knicks would already devise a plan to lure top free agents years before they are on the market. And if history is any indication of what’s to come, the Knicks will be going home empty-handed once again. A franchise in flux, the Knicks have already began this season much like they ended their tumultuous post season last May. Which I’m going to go out on a limb and say that can’t be a good thing to have in November.

So what’s next for the Knicks? Could Carmelo Anthony bolt for greener pastures? La La Land is the destination most frequently brought up, but would the Los Angeles Lakers really want to get themselves into another max deal with a player that will be hitting 30 years old next May? And it probably should be noted that Melo isn’t exactly the greatest at keeping himself in shape, nor has post season success the Lakers have become accustomed to. But the Knicks have something they can offer Melo that the Lakers can’t: More money and possibly Kevin Love.

Of course the Lakers could make a hard pitch to Kevin Love as well, seeing that Love is a west coast guy and played his college ball at UCLA. But that hasn’t stopped the Knicks from already devising a plan to lure Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Kevin Love to New York.

Via Yahoo Sports/Adrian Wojnarowski:

Almost assuredly, Love will exercise his early termination option in two years and take a strong look at where the free-agent landscape stands with the T’wolves. He could re-sign a longer, richer deal with Minnesota, or chase big-market platforms in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and perhaps elsewhere.

The Knicks are buried in salary-cap hell through 2014, awaiting Amar’e Stoudemire ($23.4 million), Tyson Chandler ($14.3 million) and Andrea Bargnani ($12 million) to expire. The Knicks are sold on Love in 2015, sources tell Yahoo Sports, and they’ve already begun devising a strategy to lure him when the time comes.

Kevin Love is on deck to be recruited to New York in 2015, and that’s among the reasons the Timberwolves are so determined to make deals to climb deep into the playoffs these next two years.

The suitors promise to be plentiful for Love in two years, which is why the Knicks are already brainstorming his pursuit, sources said.

Even if the Knicks did sign Kevin Love, how would the duo of Love and Carmelo work? Anthony would be 31 years old, and be pushing the end of his prime. And for all the rebounding Love brings to the table, he isn’t considered a strong interior defender and plays the power forward spot that Anthony plays for the most part now. Would the Knicks really want to move Melo back to the three spot at 31 years old and expect him to stay in front of younger, more athletic, quicker players? Stay tuned…

  • Unless they can also get Ricky Rubio & Kevin Martin I see NO CHANCE of the small town loving hippie/farm boy leaving Minnesota to go to the concrete jungle. Happiness and an up and coming team plus no David Kahn will all help keep Kevin where he belongs. The Knicks are simply not a very good team & Kevin will not want to be part of another rebuild; Minnesota will make the playoffs this year and have a chance to go along ways if healthy.
  • Sorry Kevin will go to the Lakers, everyone knows that. His father was a Laker, and he went to UCLA. He's a L.A. GUY he loves it. the off season Kevin is down in L.A. at UCLA, so he will be a Laker
  • I'm a Minnesota homer. The Vikes, Wild, Twins. I'm not a B-Ball fan, but if I was, I'd be a Wolves fan. Anyways, If you think of all the struggles the other teams put our fans through, none of them compare to the Timberwolves. By far, the worst team in the NBA since their inauguration in '89. They've never had the #1 overall draft pick and that team is so bad that it's actually good because they'd just ruin that player anyways. The Detroit Lions have NOTHING on the T-Wolves.

Chengelis of The Detroit News, Gardner spoke of the troubles he’s had to attempt...

Giants dethrone Royals in Game 1 of World Series

Big Game James was far from that in the Royals first World Series game in 29 years. From the first inning when the Giants battered the changeless Shields for three runs there was no escaping for Shields. It started in the very first at bat with former Royal Gregor Blanco singling on a change up that Shields left up. Following a productive Joe Panik at bat Pablo Sandoval put the Giants...

Linebacker, Lance Briggs wanted nothing to do with Brandon Marshall’s outburst Sunday afternoon following the Bears loss to the Dolphins.
