La La Anthony denies that Kevin Garnett referenced Honey Nut Cheerios when talking trash to her husband, Carmelo, during a Jan. 7 game between the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics at Madison Square Garden. You may recall that Anthony and KG got into it during and after the game. Melo tried confronting Garnett twice after the game — once by the locker rooms and another time by the Celtics’ team bus. It was reported by Black Sports Online that Garnett told Melo that his wife, La La, tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios, leading Melo to lose his mind during the game. That report was so widely circulated it became accepted as fact, even though Celtics coach Doc Rivers denied it. Now La La is denying it too. “I had to be able to laugh about it because that one was really crazy,” La La told Renada Romain, host of “Ear Candy Mornings” on SiriusXM 44. “Like someone saying, ‘Oh, your wife tastes like Honey Nut Cheerios,’ and everybody really believing that and running with it. That’s not what was said. Kevin Garnett did not say that about me. He just said some things to my husband that [Melo] didn’t like that he felt like one man doesn’t say to another. “They’re perfectly fine now,” La La said of Garnett and her husband. “It happens in the heat of battle. People don’t know what goes on on that floor. [Garnett's] known for that. So it got under my husband’s skin, things happen, but it wasn’t about me.” The day after the Honey Nut Cheerios report emerged, a separate report said she and Melo were having marital problems. La La addressed her relationship with Melo during the interview. “We’re doing great,” La La told Romain. “We’ve been together for 10 years! I always say when people tell their marriage is perfect, they’re lying. We’ve been together 10 years. We go through ups, we go through downs like anyone else, but we work through them. We’re doing great … we’re working through it and things are good.” You can listen to the interview below: H/T NY Post The post La La Anthony denies Kevin Garnett said she tasted like Honey Nut Cheerios appeared first on Larry Brown Sports. John Farrell: Pitchers need an approved gripping substance

And the Boston Red Sox...

Report: NBA exploring moving start of Finals up

The NBA’s conference finals have been the definition of anti-climax as both series appear headed towards four-game sweeps. But that’s nowhere near as unexciting as the wait until the start of the NBA Finals will be. The starting date of the Finals was set as June 5 before the end the second round. And had either conference final been even remotely interesting, that would not...

Baseball players in the military: A tribute

During the course of a 162-game season, many people take baseball for granted. Game after game, day after day, tend to encourage an attitude of complacency among fans and likely even the players.  This wonderful sport that has been around since the Civil War era is so ingrained in our consciousness that it’s comparable to breathing to many folks. We don’t think about breathing...
