Will LeBron James participate in an upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend dunk contest? That has become the topic du jour as it pertains to the league’s reigning MVP.

The whole thing has reached such a tipping point that NBA legend Magic Johnson has put up $1 million to the winner of any dunk contest that James takes part in.

“Please, LeBron, get in the dunk contest. I’m going to put up a million dollars,” Johnson said on ESPN’s 'NBA Countdown'. “A million dollars from Magic to LeBron. Please get in the dunk contest. I go every year. I want to see you out there. A million to the winner.”

On Sunday James responded to the offer  just before taking the court to face the New York Knicks.

He told ESPN that ”I don’t have a response yet,” and “tell him I’ll get back to him.”

He also stated that he visits the idea of doing the contest annually.

“I think about it every year,” James said.

  • boy it must be nice just to be able to hand someone that kind of money for a dunk meanwhile my family and I continue to struggle every month just to pay our bills
  • I wish someone would pay him a million to put a bullet in his mouth.
  • So while the rest of America struggles with jobs and money, the rarified rich get to play games with a miliion dollars over a dunk? The perspective and priorities of America are skewed to the point of ridiculousness.
This is not news, it is an insult. Vote with your wallet America - stop supporting people who do not care about you.
  • Lebron does not need the money he uses lots of his money to support charities, which is why he did not do this before. You are just jealous that you would need a ladder to dunk a basketball and you don't have the talent or class to have a charity for kids that Lebron does that makes them promise to finish school. To the ahole that said he should put a gun in his mouth well you need to seek some serious mental health group and have yourself committed. You are one sick f...k.
  • I totally agree with you Rick. First,he wont keep the money and he will give it charity. Maybe if some of you would get off your behind and get a better job and not spend all day complaining about their own situation, you wouldnt be struggling. and why does it always have to with politics ????
dont worry about who is supporting who and try supporting yourself.....
  • These men know they make crazy money for playing a game and men like Magic and Lebron are forever greatfull and give back so much to their communities knowing that their idles played for 100 times less. Inflation in pro sports is not their fault but it must be humbling (and embarrasing). Forgive my spelling.
