The Miami Heat successfully silenced an enormous amount of critics by winning an NBA championship last season, and they don’t want any of us to forget about it. Because of their slow start that has followed incredibly high offseason expectations, the Los Angeles Lakers have drawn a number of comparisons to the 2010-2011 Heat. According to LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, the two situations are hardly alike. “No one will ever be able to compare what we went through,” James told the Miami Herald on Friday. “Even though they’re not winning and they’re losing a lot of games, it’s still nowhere near what we went through. Yeah, right. That level of magnitude was nowhere near where ours was two years ago. Nothing. Nothing compares to it.” Wade agreed wholeheartedly. “Because of everything that happened in 2010 with offseason signings, it was, automatically, just a lot of negative things that was said about us,” Wade said. “(Los Angeles) didn’t go through that at the beginning. They didn’t go through anything negative about bringing those guys together, so ours started off bad and it stayed bad for a while, and then we got better.” In a way, the Heat stars are right. LeBron was referred to as one of the greatest players of all time but had no championship hardware to show for it, so that pressure loomed over Miami. Kobe Bryant could use another ring to better his legacy, but he hardly needs it. The mystery of whether or not LeBron would be able to win his first ring created an enormous amount of pressure in itself. However, the Heat players brought on much of the pressure that they faced last season and the year before. You didn’t see L.A. throwing any type of Three Kings introduction party when they acquired Steve Nash and Dwight Howard. It makes sense that the Heat want everyone to know they overcame more obstacles than any team in NBA history, but let us not forget that they brought much of it on themselves by acting like jackasses. • Let us not forget that Dwayne Wade already had a championship ring so it's not like he has to secure his legacy with more rings. He'll never be in consideration as the "Greatest of All Time", not saying he isn't an exceptional talent in his own right.

Dwight Howard has come to LA with high expectations of winning a ring that he's never won. Same goes for Steve Nash and both are respected as high value players who could (at least Nash) will end up in the hall of fame.

So to say no one will ever go through what the heat went through is bogus. I don't buy that assessment/argument one bit.
  • LeBron and Wade brought in on themselves with the "No, not 1, not 2, not 3...." and parading around like they had already done so before they played their first game. The only thing similar with the Lakers was Ron Metta World Artest Peace with his "If we don't win 73 games it is on me" comment. And we all know World Artest Peace is wacky.
  • Labron is right and as the other writer said they brought a lot of it on themselfs, with that being He's still the greatest player to play the game of basketball I've ever seen and I seen them all. What about the Pilly team with Dr.J, George Mcgennis Darl Dawkins, Morrice Cheeks, and the rest of those guys then turned around and let Golden State beat them four straight and then letting the Lakers beat them to. To me the was the most disappointing team in history.
  • Ok I'm so sick of hearin how Lebron got his 1st ring, well if you look back at last year seriously you'll see that it was basically handed 2 him bcus of the hipe of the big 3 was gonna be split if Miami didn't get anything afta all the strings was pulled for them 2 come 2gether. 2nd & true, is it was on the strength of it also being a lock out season as well so he need to try that **** this yr & see if he can get it.. IJS 2 EACH IS OWN BUT, HE GOTTA A LOT OF GETTIN 2 GET B4 HE START TALKIN MADD **** ABOUT ANYBODY IN THE LEAGUE WIT HIS AROGANT ASS...
  • But they were speaking to their own fans, what do you expect them to say.
  • It is real that the Heat made that party, but, that party was for the fans of the Heat, ESPN took a video of our party and showed it to the world, that was a promo for sales, which by the way, thanks to that party there's a waiting list of over 900 people to buy season tickets. Enough with the hate, that's why no one would ever, ever, compare to what the Heat passed through and their fans, GO HEAT!!!!!!!
  • What a bunch of self=serving assholes. The negativity was brought on by their arrogant behavior. Anyone notice they no longer speak of "not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4"...the way they rebound is not champion material, nor is their road record.

NFLPA boss: No Deflategate interviews until after SB

This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith indicated in a media session with reporters on Thursday that the league will not be interviewing players regarding Deflate-gate until after the conclusion of the Super Bowl.  With only a few days remaining until Super Bowl XLIX between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, interviews...

Blandino: Deflategate no sting; PSI in footballs not logged in

PHOENIX — It’s Walt Anderson’s word against the New England Patriots’. The NFL has no proof that the NFL referee checked the PSI in the Patriots’ footballs prior to the AFC Championship Game, the league’s VP of officiating Dean Blandino told a group of reporters after a news conference Thursday. NFL officials don’t log the PSI in footballs. They either approve them...
