Via Larry Brown Sports:
The Miami Heat have turned their pregame ritual into their own personal dunk contest as of late, and LeBron James has been the headliner with sick jams like this. The display has made fans even more anxious for him to change his mind about competing in the Slam Dunk Contest. There’s no question LeBron could win the Dunk Contest, as he makes dunks like the one he threw down before Miami’s win over the Sacramento Kings look easy.
However, LeBron says he is considering putting a stop to it.
“Maybe I should stop because it’s making a lot of people mad about what I do,” James said Tuesday according to ESPN.com. “They’re like, ‘Well, if you can do it in warmups, why don’t you (want to) be in the dunk contest? Stop it.’”
LeBron recently reminded fans that he is never going to participate in the Dunk Contest because he is too old, but many believe the videos of him dunking before games are proving that to be untrue.
“I’ve been hearing about it,” James said. “But I don’t really watch TV or go on the Internet too much. As a team, it’s kind of our new thing. I’ve had some good ones, but (Chalmers) doing a 360? That’s impressive. We have a little epidemic right now. It’s kind of like the Harlem Shake.”
At this point, it’s obvious James has no interest in participating in the Dunk Contest. Fans should just enjoy the incredible dunks he is treating them to in pregame warmups, because that’s as good as it’s going to get.
