LeBron James was at one time arguably one of the best football prospects in the high school ranks, but a fairly successful basketball career kept him from ever seeing through his potential on the football field. So, while hundreds of NFL prospects invaded Indianapolis this week to test their skills at the NFL combine, James briefly reflected on his football career, according to Tom Haberstroh of ESPN. He talked about his own 40-yard dash time and even compared himself to one of the NFL’s most enigmatic prospects, Manti Te’o. Te’o didn’t show too well during his workouts in Indy, even posting a 4.82 40 time that left scouts disappointed and John Harbaugh shaking his head. James took a shot at Te’o's underwhelming workouts before the Heat played the Spurs in Miami on Tuesday night, even referencing his own 40 time as a comparison. LeBron on running a 4.6 40 yard dash this summer: "I was just messing around, no training. It's better than Manti Te'o, I'll tell you that."— NBA Legion (@MySportsLegion) February 26, 2013 LeBron’s freakish athleticism has been well documents over the years, from his 6-foot-9 frame to his 7-foot wingspan and accurate 3-point shooting (41 percent this season). But to run a 4.6-second 40 on a whim and without training is absurd even for someone as athletic as James. There is no telling what James might run if ever given the proper training to prepare for a formal 40-yard dash, but one thing we can be sure of is that he would have scouts drooling over his talent. • man, do your talking on the court. are you trying to compete with Kobe for Twitter space? truth is, I would take Kobe any day over you, although I recognize you are a beast and a force in the league for probably the next 5 years. it would be cool if you & your single ring (to the tune of $100m for the little 3) should try to stay classy. The End.
  • Let me guess your a laker fan?Im not even a heat fan but i do watch basketball and thats all he does is let his game talk for him.lebron is the best player on the planet.Kobe hates that lebron is the man an only wished he was half as good as him.He may be a better scorer but all round kobe has nothing on him.An that single ring will be 2 at the the end of the season. So instead of you popping off at the mouth bout someone you dont even know maybe you should try an stay classy The End!!!
  • CHI fan. 2nd choice = Boston. considering I love D Rose, Rondo may be my favorite player at this time. the reality is that LJ, KB, & KD are the best 3 players in the game. Kobe is more proven & that's just my opinion. why so angry, anyway? trashing a team or player is cool. trashing a fan's post is not cool at all.
  • Just another way to feel better than someone else. Having a really successful basketball career is not enough. Obviously success does not fill that void to prove yourself superior to others.
  • Hey, Te'o could be Pope! He's bright, spiritual, and also devoted to an imaginary being.
  • NO one cares what LeTard is thinking or tweeting
  • That is there business. Speak up gentlemen.

    JH
  • So he can run a 4.6, so what?
  • How can he say he has had no training when he has been in training for basketball running up and down the court since Oct.
  • here is what really counts...he graduated from Notre Dame. Where did James graduate from? Could he even get into a college? He seems to be proud of his ignorance
  • Dude... you have to respect Lebron's game but seriously, put him on an NFL football field with Te'o and he will get destroyed. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Te'o fan one bit (especially after watching him miss about 20 tackles against Alabama) but lets get real. Plus - what does "no training" mean? Its not like he's been sitting on the couch eating pizza for the last 10 years - he is a professional athlete, his daily job IS training.
  • Teo is much better than all the media hype....will start in the NFL next year.....

Cleveland Browns’ quarterback Brian Hoyer is on course to become a free agent next week after being the primary starter for the team last year.
