Via The Kevin Burke Project:

A few years ago, we saw footage of a 48-year-old Michael Jordan dunk. And rather effortlessly too. Although he’s approaching 50, the man still keeps himself in shape apparently.

Charlotte Bobcats rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist can attest to that. Apparently, the two played one-on-one recently and Jordan won, according to USA Today Sports.

Now, I know Jordan is the greatest, but there’s absolutely no way an almost 50-year-old Jordan should beat a 19-year-old Kidd-Gilchrist -- the No. 2 pick in last year’s draft. Either MKG was intimidated by Jordan’s trash talk (which is entirely possible) or he was star-struck. Either way, it’s inexcusable.

Whether he comes back to the NBA or not, Jordan still can beat you in one-on-one … unless you’re better than the No. 2 pick in the draft.

Charlotte Bobcats rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist said Friday in Houston that 49-year-old Jordan beat him a one-on-one game. Jordan turns 50 Sunday, while Kidd-Gilchrist is seven months away from turning 20.

“It was hard for me,” Kidd-Gilchrist said before playing in the Rising Stars Challenge rookie-sophomore game Friday night. “I lost. He’s the greatest man that ever played the game.

“Oh, yeah. He’s good.”

  • Haha, are you kidding me? Michael Jordan is freaking MICHAEL JORDAN! NO 19 year old should be able to beat him, even at 50.
  • I have 2 boys. They both played hoops as I did. The rule is universal. Once dad hits 50yrs old, beating him doesn't count. If it was 51, I would have been toast!!
  • OF COURSE Michael Kidd-Gilchrist ALLOWED his 50 year old boss and team owner MJ to beat him in a game of one on one because he's the boss and when the media asked him about his 50 year old boss "the greatest ever" and his "defeat" of course he was going to say EXACTLY what he said.

    He has no choice.

    Politics.

    It's just that simple.
