Paul Pierce like any aging star in sports is now faced with the decline in his skills, the possibility of his career ending, and most importantly, wondering when and where it will end. Pierce is aware that many a great athlete has ended his career in a different city.  Pierce is prepared for that, so now the waiting game is set to begin. Pierce could easily retire, and enjoy the privilege of playing for one singular franchise, and going out on his terms.  Pierce wants to play a few more years, so now he’s stuck with the fact that he might play elsewhere. According to Yahoo Sports, Greg Dickerson, a sideline reporter with CSNNE is reporting that close to Paul Pierce are suggesting that Pierce doesn’t believe he’ll be a Celtic next season. Dickerson for his part, doesn’t think Pierce will be a Celtic anymore either. “I don’t think they will (bring Pierce back),” Dickerson said Sunday on CSNNE. “And I know that the company that Paul Pierce hangs around in, they do not believe – and I don

  • Piece, smart enough to stay for less, Garnett will stay, and with the return of Rondo the Celtics stay healthy and make a run at 18. Add Sully and give the bench lots of minutes, it can be done. Paul Pierce in another uniform????? NOT!
  • I *think* that under the CBA either the Celtics HAVE to pay him $13M next year or release him. I do not believe they can bring him back for less. The players union doesn't let that happen.
  • Pierce will stay for less. He won't want to retire in any other uniform and he doesn't want to uproot his family right now.
  • Boston lets Pierce go & I stop watching the Celts.
Celts have more class than that - Paul just has one more year on contract & he carried Celts during the bad years....show our stars the respect they deserve - keep Pierce!!
Then Garnett stays & rondo & barbosa coming back this team with a little tweak can still contend, without Celts cannot contend.
  • It's well been established that Danny Ainge's time as President of Basketball Operation has expired. Danny needs to go flat-out and give a visionary the job to put a real Boston Celts team together. The last year what he did with the finest team in NBA history was totally sensing and to document he knows nothing about building a team. There are key positions needing to be filled (c, shooters, etc) and there needs to be some big money spent. Can't be on a championship level if you don't know how to get there and on the Cheap.
  • It's been fun watching the big pp play in Boston. All great players have to come to terms with father time. Paul need to take that reduced roll with the team or hang up the sneakers. People say they will stop watching, who you fooling. It is reality no one can play forever.

RUMORS & GOSSIP

Blue Jays OF tears meniscus in freak sprinkler accident

It’s that time of the year again.   For some reason, MLB spring training brings about the strangest and most unfortunate injuries. And Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Michael Saunders was 2015’s first victim, tearing his left meniscus after stepping on a sprinkler head while shagging balls. Saunders said he felt a pop when it happened. “I just tried to walk...

Death threats show why some fans take sports too seriously

Once in a while I like to take a step back and remind myself and anyone listening that this world has a lot to offer. So many things can and should give inspire us — love, sex, money, food, travel, work, music, cinema, physical exercise, and of course sports. Some of us can’t get enough of all of that, some have other vices, some only one or two. But although work and sports...

Five bubble teams playing well heading into March

Come Sunday, the calendar will turn to March which for college basketball fans, marks a special time of year. As the NCAA tournament is just weeks away from tipping off, most of us know that the usual suspects like Kentucky, Duke and Kansas are sure to be there. For several other teams, the goal right now is simply getting into the field of 68. For teams on the bubble, every game...

Falcons release Steven Jackson

The hits keep coming for NFL running backs. A day after the Detroit Lions sent Reggie Bush packing, veteran running back Steven Jackson was released by the Atlanta Falcons. On the surface, this move is not surprising. Jackson, 31, put up 1,250 yards and 12 touchdowns in two seasons with the Falcons. The former Pro Bowler was set to count $4.92 million against the cap in 2015. By...

Bill Walton has some words of advice for Derrick Rose

If anyone can relate to what Derrick Rose is going through, it’s Bill Walton. Long before there was Rose, Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Brandon Roy, or any other promising NBA star whose career was derailed by injuries, there was Walton. Walton was a three-time college player of the year and led UCLA to two national...Read More

Five under-the-radar National Player of the Year candidates

While March and April are undoubtedly for the NCAA tournament, February has, at least in recent years, turned into the month for three things: bubble talk, 1-seed talk, and player of the year talk. This year, Wisconsin senior Frank Kaminsky and Duke freshman Jahlil Okafor have been running 1-2 for most of the season in the POY discussion, with Ohio State’s D’Angelo Russell...

Judge overturns Peterson suspension; NFL to appeal

So much for this being a slow time of the year around the NFL. As has been the case over the past several months, off-field issues are making headlines around the league. Hours after independent arbitrator and federal court judge David Doty ruled that the league could not apply the current personal conduct policy to Adrian Peterson stemming from his child abuse case, reports are...

Dez Bryant's mother in 2012: Dez threatened to knock me out

Back in 2012, Dez Bryant was arrested on a misdemeanor family violence charge after he allegedly assaulted his mother. The charge was later dropped, but not before Bryant’s mother explained to police in detail the way she claims her son attacked her. On Tuesday, TMZ obtained an interview video from when Angela Bryant spoke to...Read More

Brandon Bostick received death threats after botched play

Former Green Bay Packers’ tight end Brandon Bostick has taken severe heat since he botched an onside kick in the NFC Championship game this past January. Bostick’s error definitely weighed towards shifting the game into the Seahawks’ favor and eliminating the Packers from Super Bowl contention.  Since then, Bostick has published a very emotional statement on the MMQB that...
