PLAYERS: Tim Duncan
TEAMS: San Antonio Spurs

Via Larry Brown Sports:

Tim Duncan has been dominant in the 2013 postseason thus far and is one of the main reasons the San Antonio Spurs are poised to challenge for another NBA championship. He is averaging 16.2 points and 9.1 rebounds in 12 playoff games against the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies. And it appears this may all be happening while dealing with some off-the-court distractions.

According to the San Antonio Express-News, Duncan and his wife Amy may have recently filed for divorce. A divorce case was filed in a San Antonio court two months ago that includes only the initials A.S.D and T.T.D. Duncan’s middle name is Theodore. To make matters even more curious, a request was reportedly filed last week asking that a legal discovery be postponed until after the Spurs' last playoff game.

Either the nation’s biggest Spurs fans have filed for divorce, or Duncan and his wife are splitting. The Express-News also pointed out that the paperwork says the couple married around July 21, 2001, which was when Tim's and Amy's wedding took place. Furthermore, it says they have two children together, whose birthdays coincide with the dates listed on the divorce filing.

T.T.D., who we assume is Duncan, has asked the court to honor a prenuptial agreement and confirm that he owns property that is separate from the marital estate. A.S.D.'s petition states that the two will "enter into a written agreement for the division of their estate."

Divorce can be a major distraction, which is why it is even more surprising that Duncan has been able to focus and put the Spurs in a position where they are two wins away from punching a ticket to the NBA Finals.

  • As usual with professional gold diggers who only marry for money, they wait until the pro athlete finally accumulates all his career earnings and is about to retire and then file for divorce.

Hopefully Duncan;s pre-up is iron clad and she gets no more that the pre-nup allows.

Pro athletes need to stay single during their playing days because when the do retire especially sooner rather than later, they are still young men in their late 20's or mid to late 40's who can still start a family after they retire.

Stop wasting away a huge percentage of your multi-millions on gold diggers!
  • hmmmmmmmm interesting comment... they've been married almost 12 yrs... don't know what time limits you place on "gold digging"... but in my book 12 yrs qualifies as a significant emotional, physical and spiritual investment.....
  • You have to be a women who has the gold digger gene

Spurs - Grizzlies Game Three: Tim Duncan Does Not Follow The Script

Tim Duncan Will Also End This It was obvious how this one was going to play out: the Grizz, desperate for the game and back at home after the big comeback fell short in Game 2, were going to win. They were going to ride the emotion and the home crowd to a big early lead (29-13 after the first quarter), stave off a comeback, and go wire to wire. Maybe they'd get a mess of calls...

Grizzlies' Gasol won DPOY, but is Spurs' Duncan proving to be more worthy?

AT&T Center – Four weeks ago, Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol was named the 2013 NBA Defensive Player of the Year. Reasonable Request or Cheesy Movie Plot?

It has been reported that San Antonio Spurs superstar Tim Duncan has filed for divorce. This news comes really surprising to myself, as I would never imagine one of the classiest players in the NBA to ever have marital issues. However, in the world we live in, divorce is not uncommon and is subject to anyone. Look at his teammate Tony Parker and his ex-wife Eva Longoria....

San Antonio wins Game 2 in OT 93-89: Spurs take 2-0 series lead over Grizzlies

So much for the favored Memphis Grizzlies to take at least one game in San Antonio. The Grizzlies find themselves in an 0-2 hole as the Spurs held on in overtime to win Game 2 93-89. Memphis was the favorite going into this series. Some said that the Spurs had old veterans that could not keep up with Memphis. Looks like that is not the case. Tony Parker had 15 points and a career...
