Russell Westbrook may be injured, but that does not mean he has been forgotten by Oklahoma City Thunder fans. In fact, one fan even enlisted the Thunder guard’s help with a marriage proposal.

Charlie Bright, who is a recent Oklahoma graduate and huge Thunder fan, reached out to Westbrook with a Facebook message last week asking the Thunder star to assist him with a wedding proposal. It took a few days, but Westbrook got back to him and they arranged details.

According to The Oklahoman, Bright set things up so that Westbrook would tweet the bride-to-be at a specific time on Friday. Bright and his fiancee, Rachel Haycraft, were walking together and Bright encouraged her to check her Twitter. Then she says she faced a confluence of two crazy things — her favorite player, Russell Westbrook, mentioning her on Twitter, and her boyfriend proposing to her.

“I’m on Twitter a lot anyway, but I’ve never really had someone suggest, ‘Hey, why don’t you check Twitter right now,’” Haycraft told The Oklahoman. “But he asked me to get on there and I did and I saw on the app that Russell had mentioned me and I was like, ‘Why did Russell mention me?’ Then I looked at the tweet and was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is crazy’. First of all that Russell Westbrook is tweeting at me and then that you are asking to marry me, it was all wrapped into one, it was crazy.”

Here’s the tweet in question:

After the Westbrook tweet went through, Bright got down on one knee and proposed to Haycraft. She said yes.

As you can tell from the photo, the two are huge Thunder fans. In fact, Bright told The Oklahoman that their first date was to a Thunder game. And now their upcoming wedding has a nice Thunder touch.

Improving the Oklahoma City Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder are unquestionably one of the best teams in the NBA. They were considered a lock for at least the Western Conference Finals berth again for the 2013 season and possibly competing to rewrite last season’s defeat to the Heat in the Finals. Oklahoma City Thunder’s Harden trade recap

Once apart of a great young core in OKC, Harden took on the same role as Durant as the leader of Houston. In 2012, the Oklahoma City Thunder ended a great season in the Finals to the champion Miami Heat. While Grousbeck said some positive things -- calling Rondo...
