Amir Johnson of the Toronto Raptors was ejected during the third quarter of Monday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers for an extremely bizarre set of actions. Amir was going to grab the ball following the first of J.J. Hickson’s free throws and David Jones, the veteran referee, grabbed the ball at the exact same time. Amir, for some odd reason, would not let the ball go and started wrestling for it with the ref. It didn’t take long for the ref to blow his whistle and eject Amir for this odd behavior. For good measure Amir ripped out his mouth guard on his way off the court and threw it at Jones, hitting him in the back.

Following the game, Johnson said that the struggle over the ball with the referee was “childish” on both their parts and apologized for throwing the mouthpiece.

  • You simply cannot raise issues with the ref, he will allways win.
  • These street thugs differ from the "hood" only because they are wearing a uniform and are paid waaaaay too much. I hope the league suspends him for about a month. This game has gotten out of control, and these stupid morons need some reining in. What a great role model they are playing!
  • It appears you do not know the definition of the word "exactly." Go look it up and watch it again. It is nowhere near exactly. It is an overgrown street punk acting like an overgrown street punk. Except it is the referee's street. (Stop taking liberties with the truth, buttwipe.)
  • Don't judge someone before you walk in their shoes...many athletes are very wound up during a game and sometimes their emotions get the better of them. We see this a lot from players who are regarded off the court as nice, friendly and generous. Dwayne Wade, Rasheed Wallace, Rajon Rondo, etc. Cannabis is a very popular drug in the NBA because it allows athletes to mellow out after their emotions get so intense. He was probably just out of his mind emotionally, not really a thug.
  • David Stern just got wet he has another thug to promote jeresy sells he gets to act all bad while laughing. And you wonder why he throws the book at the Spurs but licks cleans the cheese from under on these thugs. This is why I dont watch the NBA anhymore it sucks and I have no respect or desire to watch a bunch of thugs and gang bangers ruin a once wonderful sport
