After 18 years in the NBA, 42-year-old Houston Rockets center Dikembe Mutombo calls it quits. In the first quarter of Tuesday's night playoff game against the Trailblazers, Mutombo suffered a devastating left knee injury and was carried off the court on a stretcher.During a post game interview, Mutombo stated, "For me, basketball is over."Dikembe Mutombo was once the most intimidating defensive center in the league. An 8-time All-Star and 4-time Defensive Player of the Year, Mutombo will leave the game second all-time in career blocks trailing only Hakeem Olajuwon.Though the future Hall of Famer's presence will be sorely missed on the court, his philanthropic efforts will presumably increase. The Congo born Mutombo, has used his fame and spent much of own fortune to ensure that people of his country have efficient medical facilities. A class act, the NBA has lost a warrior, but the world still has a 7'2 saint.Fan of No Guts, No Glory? Subscribe to our feed! o...
