The Los Angeles Lakers are on a roll heading into their longest road trip of the season, and one of their players should have a little extra motivation to perform well in the opener of that seven-game trek. In his return to Phoenix, Steve Nash will try to lead the Lakers to a fourth consecutive win while preventing an eighth straight road loss Wednesday night against the Suns. Nash missed his first chance this season to face the team that drafted him 15th overall in 1996 and brought him back for a second stint with the club spanning eight seasons from 2004-12. The point guard, who helped the Suns reach the Western Conference finals three times and was named league MVP in 2005 and 2006, was recovering from a small fracture in his left leg during the Lakers' 114-102 home win Nov. 16. This is his first visit to Phoenix since a sign-and-trade deal - at his request - sent the 38-year-old Nash to Los Angeles for four draft picks over the summer. "(The Suns) were very apprehe...

Suns rally, beat Lakers in Nash's homecoming

PHOENIX Nashapalooza, which is a huge betting favorite to rank as the most memorable event of this Phoenix Suns season, turned out to be a dramatic salvo with many engaging characters. The biggest role, of course, was handed to former Suns superstar point guard Steve Nash, who showed up Wednesday night for his old teams retro Back In Black jersey event in the yellow work clothes...

Phoenix Suns To Wear Black Throwbacks Wednesday Night

The Phoenix Suns will wear their black throwback “Hardwood Classics” in their home game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night on ESPN, which also happens to be Steve Nash’s first game back in Phoenix. According to AZ Central: The black jerseys looked cool to [the players] then and now as they bring back the 1994-2000 look for the first time tonight against the Los...

Emotions torn as Nash returns to Phoenix

Prodigal Sun or Point Guard Non Grata? Applause or boos? Steve Nash returns to Phoenix on Wednesday night for the first time as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers -- the uncomfortable convergence of the player who Suns' fans most loved with the team they most love to hate. It's no ordinary homecoming -- as you might have noticed from the 75 price tag placed on the cheapest...

Pau Gasol pissed again over benching

The Los Angeles Lakers won their third-straight game on Tuesday by beating the New Orleans Hornets 111-106, but one of their key players is once again upset he was benched.

Beasley helps Suns come back from 13 down to beat Lakers

PHOENIX Steve Nash left a loser in his return to Phoenix. The Phoenix Suns, down 13 points in the third quarter, chipped away at the lead, helped by the fumble-fingered Lakers, then pulled the game out at the end with a 92-86 win Wednesday night at U.S. Airways Center. Michael Beasley broke an 86-86 tie with a driving layup with 44 seconds left. Then Kobe Bryant missed on a drive...

Lakers nearly waste good work vs Hornets

LOS ANGELES -- The Lakers won their third in a row, beating the New Orleans Hornets, 111-106. There's no arguing that this a much better Laker team than it was just six days ago, with Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash switching roles and Dwight Howard playing with a renewed enthusiasm. However, it also can't be argued that this team still has quite a ways to go in order to turn...

Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant Providing Perfect Example of How Paul Pierce, Celtics Can Excel Without Rajon Rondo

The Lakers and Celtics will always be linked to each other, whether it’s fitting or not. This season, there have been just as many comparisons, as both teams drew attention for putting up horrid starts despite big-name casts. The landscape has changed over recent days, though. While the Celtics at first seemed to be banding together and making a run in the Eastern Conference with...

Team Effort Gets Lakers Win Over Hornets

Photo courtesy of Stephen Dunn, Getty ImagesWhen the season began, no one would’ve guessed that a team with Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol would take 45 games to finally get their 20th victory, but they finally did tonight against the New Orleans (soon-to-be Pelicans but for the time being) Hornets, 111-106. After two well-earned wins against the Utah Jazz...
