Sixers will challenge HEAT The defending NBA Champs the Miami Heat with the addition of Ray Allen, have gotten older but still are king of the East. Our Sixers, had a huge off-season turning over their lineup with some big additions. But are those additions enough to knock off the Heat? To date we have not seen the crown jewel of the off-season Andrew Bynum and much rests on his shoulders (or for better word KNEES). Healthy, the Sixers are huge in comparison to the rest of the division, have a true center(s)  and tons of fouls to give. What you see in the regular season is not the likely product you will get come playoff time, the Sixers are big and built to dominate the paint. How they finish in the regular season will be important if we get a showdown with Miami. PLAYOFF 8 Eastern Conference 1. Miami   (62-20) King James and the rest of the Heat do deserve some respect, the addition of Ray Allen makes little difference for the league champions rank 2. Philadelphia (58-24) Huge changes up and down the lineup, if the big trade pans out, might even take the conference. Better shooters and more depth make the Sixers a potential conference champ. 3. Chicago   (54-28)  Roses return from his ACL tear, possibly the only team that could have knocked off the Heat last season. Chicago plays big defensively, which will hold off many in the East until Rose returns to form. 4. Boston   (47-35)  Old, the Celtics are that with Paul Pierce at 35 you have to wonder how much he has left in the tank. Garnett is back and with Dwight Howard departing the East makes Garnett second to only Bynum. Rondo, one of the elite at point guard keeps the Celtics at the top of the conference. Adding, Melo in the draft a good move in keeping Garnett fresh for playoff time. Jason Terry replacing Ray Allen will result in no loss in production. Brandon Bass a sixth man candidate? 5. Brooklyn  ( 45-37)  The addition of Joe Johnson gives the Nets the best back court in the conference. Brook Lopez and remaining healthy thru the season will make or break the Nets. 6. Knicks 7. Indiana 8.
