The NBA Players Union announced today that they plan to disband their union and begin filing antitrust suits against the NBA.  While I really would like to see an NBA season, it’s not hard to understand why the players are taking this action. The NBA owners weren’t negotiating in any type of good faith with the players.  They chose to beat the players over the head mercilessly, and after they had already won the war, getting the players down to less than 50 percent of BRI in most seasons, they then chose to pick one more battle over the luxury tax and the MLE, and now the NBA owners are set to lose the war. If the owners are smart, which a lot of them don’t appear to be when it comes to running their NBA teams by how badly the manage their franchises, then they will make a last minute offer to the players giving the players 53 percent of BRI and all of the system issues they wanted.  If the owners fail to make an offer the players are willing to accept, they are ab...
