Los Angeles Lakers
New York Knicks
Steve Nash is no longer a member of the Phoenix Suns, and yet, inexplicably, the Suns have decided to continue fielding a team.
Actually, we all knew it would come to this someday. We knew the Suns existed before Nash. We kind of figured they might after Nash, too.
That time has arrived. And hey, it could be considerably more grim. In fact, some people might tell you the fact Nash left for the Lakers (well, was traded to the Lakers) wont mess with any reasons for hope at all.
Yeah, sounds weird. But it has some merit.
Fact: Nash and Grant Hill are gone. Theory: In their place are younger guys who possess enough talent to keep the Suns afloat while they keep an eye on the future.
On that list are newcomers such as Michael Beasley, Goran Dragic and Wes Johnson, as well as veteran Luis Scola. Not bad, huh? The Suns sure seem to like it OK.
After all, as valuable as Nash had been, not many NBA franchises get real far when their face is a 38-year old point guard. So the Suns are st...
BEST OF MAXIM
The Phoenix Suns are putting Wesley Johnson in a position to succeed.
For coach Alvin Gentry, the main adjustment is mental.
Hes a good player ... I think with him, the whole thing is about confidence, Gentry said of Johnson, who has made a combined 11 off 22 shots from the field and has cumulatively scored 30 points in the Suns first two preseason games. He needed confidence,...
I've seen some pretty interesting postgame interviews over the years but this one from Los Angeles Lakers star Pau Gasol might be all-timer.Gasol was being asked a question about Lakers rookie center Robert Sacre and he answered it.The most interesting part however was that Gasol didn't realize that Sacre was sitting right next to him:
Steve Nash was offered a three-year, $36 million contract from the Raptors, which was considerably more money than what he eventually received from the Lakers.
The Lakers currently have four point guards on their depth chart, with Steve Blake, Chris Duhon and Darius Morris backing up Steve Nash.
The Suns, Magic and Mavericks will add the STATS, LLC camera-tracking system this season
The Lakers were able to turn a series of cost-saving trades into the acquisitions of Steve Nash, Jordan Hill, Robert Sacre and Darius Morris.
Just as practice ended, the Lakers' frontline in Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol performed a move that usually leaves defenders off balance.
But this time, it involved a sea full of reporters. Gasol entered the media scrum, while Howard hoped to sneak into the trainer's room. But to no avail. It's understandable considering Howard knows the question before the media asks...
Dwight Howard underwent back surgery last April. He's had the entire summer to recover, and last week he was cleared for full practice. However, Howard will not play in the Los Angeles Lakers' game against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday. The center has not been completely cleared for game action.According to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Times, Howard is pain free, but...
Dwight Howard remains scheduled to play for the Lakers in their regular season opener against the Mavericks.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Gordon Hayward scored 13 points, Al Jefferson added 12 and the Utah Jazz easily overcame Kobe Bryant's 23-point third quarter for a 114-80 victory over the winless Los Angeles Lakers in a preseason game Tuesday night.
Bryant finished with 31 points, while Jodie Meeks added 12 points on four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter for the Lakers, who rested Pau...
Veteran guard Derek Fisher is eligible to return to the Los Angeles Lakers in the event that the team wants him back. NBA officials verified that the Lakers could re-sign the 38-year-old Fisher without a waiting period, ESPN.com reported. It was reported previously that Fisher could not return to the Lakers until next March because of a one-year waiting period after the Lakers...
