Sports Nut Hub:
As first reported by Ken Berger of CBS Sports, the LA Lakers and Boston Celtics have had very preliminary talks about swapping Dwight Howard in exchange for injured point guard Rajon Rondo.
Within the last 24 hours, Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak has told multiple outlets that they have no plans to make a deal involving Howard before the February 21st NBA trading deadline. Howard also stated that Kupchak has delivered the same news in a face-to-face meeting between the two.
The two would have to be only part of the deal, as Howard is scheduled to make just over $19 million and Rondo only $11 million. Would the Celtics throw in Jeff Green? The addition of Green would allow the trade to work under the CBA. The Lakers, and especially head coach Mike D’Antoni would likely love to add the versatile Green. The Celtics, though, would likely prefer to add other pieces such as Brandon Bass and a lesser thought of player such as Fab Melo or Chris Wilcox to meet the salary requirements of the tr...

The traveling circus known as the Lakers hit All-Star weekend. Center Dwight Howard was hit with a barrage of questions about his future.
"(The Lakers) told me they weren't going to trade me," Howard said. "That's what (General Manager) Mitch (Kupchak) said."
Howard was acquired by the Lakers in the off-season from the Orlando Magic. He'll be a free...
As the trade deadline looms, the Celtics' future is uncertain. In the wake of Rajon Rondo's ACL tear and the announcement that he would be done for the season, many presumed that the Celtics were done for the season. Many said the team should blow it up and start to rebuild.
Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers was not among those doubters. Rivers said to the media in a...
Ken Berger of CBS Sports has this blockbuster report:
However, CBSSports.com has learned that the Lakers have engaged in preliminary trade discussions with an unlikely trade partner regarding Howard: their fierce rival, the Boston Celtics. The centerpieces of the possible deal, which hasn’t gained any traction, would be Howard and Rajon Rondo.
The imagination runs rampant with...
The Dwight Howard era in Los Angeles hasn't exactly started off as expected. There's been nothing but drama, infighting, rumors and a lot of losing too.
There's been speculation that the Lakers could try to move Howard, with all of the aforementioned things seemingly likely to keep him from signing an extension with the storied Los Angeles franchise. Those have been...
Before Rajon Rondo was lost for the season he was dominating the NBA in triple doubles, with 5 (no other Celtic had any). Since Rondo's been gone Paul Pierce has taken over that role by recording 2 triple doubles of his own (the only player in the NBA with more than one in that time span), which puts him tied for second in the league on the season behind Rondo.
The Boston Celtics have two guards with torn ACLs. They received updates on both. Fortunately, the news on Rajon Rondo's knee is positive. However, Leandro Barbosa who tore his ACL just a couple days ago, did not get quite as encouraging news.According to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, Rondo's knee surgery went well.Danny Ainge tells Globe Rondo underwent ACL...
With Rajon Rondo out for a year and Dwight Howard a free agent after this year many speculate a Dwight and Rondo swap.
Lakers GM strongly denied the story:
“I haven’t talked to Danny Ainge in weeks,” Kupchak told ESPN The Magazine’s Chris Broussard. “I made the statement a week or two ago that we’re not going to trade Dwight Howard and that hasn’t changed.”
OK, Internet. This is your time. Less than one full week remains before the NBA trade deadline, and now is the time when all semblance of sanity flies out of the window. So-called “anonymous sources” are about to work overtime.
Even by the usual crazy standards of trade deadline season, though, Friday’s report that the Celtics and Lakers had engaged in preliminary talks for...
The Celtics are conducting âpreliminary
talksâ with the Los Angeles Lakers about swapping
Rajon Rondo for Dwight Howard, according to
CBSSports.comâs Ken Berger. While Berger points
out that the deal âhasnât gained
any traction,â it seems like, at the very least,
the Lakers and Celtics are talking about the possibility of trading
two of their biggest stars.
Rajon Rondo underwent successful surgery to repair his "torn" ACL this past Tuesday, and there is already talk about him making a quick return. Doc Rivers spoke with the media about Rondo, and joked that he could possibly make a quick return like NFL player Adrian Peterson. Rondo chose to have his knee operated on by the same surgeon, Dr. James Andrews, that worked on Peterson...
The Lakers might want to start taking some of these “rumors” seriously. You may not agree with Stephen A. Smith on 1st Take, but he isn’t prone to just making up stuff he doesn’t believe in true.
No Guts, No Glory tracked down this audio from Stephen A. saying that Dwight Howard told Rudy Gay he is going to be in Brooklyn next year.
Here is the exact quote from Stephen A...
The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly engaged in preliminary trade discussions with the Boston Celtics in regard of players Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo, which Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak denied.
Ken Berger first reported
As of late, the injury gods have not been kind to the Celtics. First Rajon Rondo is gone for the season with a torn ACL along with Jared Sullinger who has a bad back and needs surgery. Now, less than a month later it’s Leandro Barbosa, also with a torn ACL, and Paul Pierce with a pinched nerve.
Luckily, these injuries have not seemed to heavily impact the success of the team so...
With Leandro Barbosa joining Rajon Rondo out of the lineup with a torn ACL, the Boston Celtics need to trade for a point guard, if they want to have any chance of making any noise this season. They now do not have a single point guard on the roster and must fix this immediately. However, they do not have much to offer besides future first and second round picks and 2012 first round...
