The Minnesota Timberwolves are aggressively going after Pau Gasol right now. After a failed trade on draft day, the T-Wovles are still very interested in the Los Angeles Lakers big man.

According to this tweet by My Sports Legion, who are known to dish out some accurate rumors, Minnesota is looking to offer a sign-and-trade package of Derrick Williams and Michael Beasley along with picks to the Lakers for Gasol. Basically, it’s a win-win situation for both.

The Lakers have been committed towards dealing their 32-year-old All-Star, but they want an established player and maybe a draft pick in return. With this trade, they get a young forward in Williams, who will fit nicely into the starting lineup with Andrew Bynum. The Lakers also get their starting small forward possibly in Beasley as well, and of course, the draft picks. Their starting five is set with Ramon Sessions (if re-signed), Kobe Bryant, Beasley, Williams and Bynum with Jordan Hill coming off the bench. They could also try making a run at Steve Nash with that.

For Minnesota, they get the man they want in Gasol. Their chemistry will fit nicely, especially since along with the fact that they are front-runners to sign Brandon Roy. With that, Gasol joins fellow Spainard Ricky Rubio as well, along with a dangerous frontcourt tandem as he pairs with Kevin Love. Minnesota’s starting five looks set with Rubio-Roy-Wesley Johnson-Love-Gasol.

Basically, it’s a great deal for both sides, if the rumor is true. It would be huge if it goes down.
