HOUSTON (AP) -- Gary Neal scored 29 points and Tony Parker had a triple-double to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 134-126 overtime win against the Houston Rockets on Monday night. Parker had 27 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists to complement Neal's 7-of-10 performance from 3-point range. Jeremy Lin had his best game since joining the Rockets, scoring a career high-tying 38 points with leading scorer James Harden sidelined by a sprained right ankle. Neal's last 3-pointer followed by a three-point play by Manu Ginobili put the Spurs ahead 130-122 with two minutes left in overtime, and they held on for the win. It was San Antonio's fifth straight win overall and second over Houston in three days after a 114-92 victory Friday. The Rockets provided a stronger challenge in this one after San Antonio never trailed in Friday's win. But Houston's inexperience showed in overtime as the Rockets had three turnovers to help the Spurs build the lead. Houston fell to 0-2 ...

Video: Neal says Spurs can play different styles

Defense was non-existent in last night's San Antonio Spurs' overtime win versus the Rockets, as the team put up 134 points. That is a far cry from the Spurs' old ways of thinking defense first and keeping the score low. But that was then, this is now. The Spurs are not just simply a defensive team anymore, as they can light up the scoreboard thanks in large part...

Tony Parker treated to a fancy desert to celebrate his first career triple-double

Of all the great things Tony Parker has accomplished throughout his career with the San Antonio Spurs, a triple-double was not one of them prior to Monday night’s win over the Houston Rockets. When a guard plays more than 11 seasons before picking up his first triple-double, the accomplishment calls for a celebration. Following the game, Parker was treated to a custom desert at...

Video: Tony Parker's first career triple-double

Hard to believe that for 11 years playing in the NBA, San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker recorded his first career triple-double last night in the Spurs' win over the Rockets. Parker finished with 27 points, 12 assists, and 12 rebounds en route to a Spurs win. Who would have thought that after three NBA titles, All-Star appearances, and countless playoff games that TP would...

Parker jokes that Spurs are the new 'Bad Boys'

The San Antonio Spurs have had a change of identity of sorts this season. They've had more controversies this season than any others put together during the Tim Duncan era. They sent their main stars home for a nationally televised game and got fined, there was a photo that leaked with Tim Duncan and Tony Parker with a fake Joey Crawford, and most recently Stephen Jackson...

Neal Talks About Spurs' Early Heavy Travel Schedule

San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich knows the team has had a schedule with the Spurs traveling more than usual this early in the season. The Spurs were hit with two sets of back-to-backs already traveling across the country and to Canada, forcing him to sit his players as a pre-cautionary measure (and forcing a heavy fine from the NBA commissioner too). After beating the...

Diaw Congratulates Parker on Career Night

Tony Parker's celebration of his first triple double (27 points, 12 assists, 12 rebounds against the Houston Rockets) didn't end on the court or locker room on Monday night. Long time friend and native countryman Boris Diaw tweeted a picture congratuling his friend with a delicious looking gift. Congratulations to my boy @tp9network for his first triple double. ...

Spurs-Jazz Preview

Nearly two weeks ago, the San Antonio Spurs were fined by the NBA for resting their stars. Now, they own the best record in the league behind a red-hot Tony Parker. Parker looks to build on his first career triple-double as the visiting Spurs try for a season-high sixth straight win and to continue their dominance of the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night. San Antonio (18-4) has won...

Spurs, Parker defeat Rockets in OT thriller

The San Antonio Spurs came in this game with 1-0 advantage so far this season against the Houston Rockets. The Rockets were without starting shooting guard James Harden, who hurt his ankle the night before against the Dallas Mavericks. The Spurs started off sluggish in the first quarter with horrible offense while the Rockets were playing with energy despite not building a huge...

Tony Parker sees some of himself in Jeremy Lin

The San Antonio Spurs survived a shootout of the highest order Monday night, beating the Houston Rockets 134-126 in overtime.  With James Harden out with a sprained ankle, the key match up of the game was shaping up to be Tony Parker and Jeremy Lin.  They did not disappoint.  Parker finished with 27 points, 12 assists and 12 rebounds, his first career triple double.  Lin had...

Spurs moving on from off-court drama

The San Antonio Spurs are usually the team staying out of the headlines. They’re quiet, they take care of business and they win year after year. I guess there are a few exceptions, namely Tony Parker’s occasional playboy lifestyle and drama, but for the most part, the Spurs are pretty squeaky clean. Lately that hasn’t been the case. The Spurs became the big story in the...

5 things to watch: Spurs vs. Jazz

The San Antonio Spurs (18-4) continue their extended road trip with a stop in Utah to face the Jazz (12-10). These two teams met earlier in San Antonio with the Spurs winning 110-100. Tony Parker led the Spurs recording 24 points and 10 assists while Tim Duncan added 19 points and 11 rebounds. The Spurs are coming off a 134-126 overtime win in Houston versus the Rockets, where Parker...

Starting 5: The defense rests

Every morning, we will give you five things from the night before in the NBA to start your day. 1: Only One D in Texas The Spurs have not been a defensive-minded team for a few years now. Gregg Popovich has successfully turned his team from a defensive, half-court team to one that gets up the floor and can score in a variety of ways -- using the 3-pointer as much as the hedged...
