Andray Blatche had 15 points, Brook Lopez added 14 points and 10 rebounds and the Brooklyn Nets beat the Orlando Magic 107-68 Friday night. Brooklyn never trailed while snapping a 10-game losing streak to Orlando that dated to 2009. E'Twaun Moore led the Magic with 18 points, and Arron Afflalo finished with 12. The Nets dominated inside, with Lopez and Blatche pushing around Orlando's young front line. They also got a lift from their bench, with Brooklyn's reserves outscoring their counterparts 55-18 for the game. Orlando lost its third straight game after starting 2-0. It also tied a franchise-low with four made free throws, compared to 16 for Brooklyn. The teams play each other again Sunday in Brooklyn, the second of four meetings this season. The short-handed Nets played without swingman MarShon Brooks, who twisted an ankle during the morning shootaround. So Brooklyn coach Avery Johnson went deeper into his roster, giving veteran Jerry Stackhouse his first minut...

Deron Williams: I saw a UFO during Hurricane Sandy

Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams told GQ Magazine in an interview that he saw a UFO during superstorm Sandy.   GQ: Where were you during the hurricane? What was your Sandy experience like? We live in downtown Manhattan, so like everybody else downtown, we lost power around 8 p.m. on Monday, and didn't get it back until the following Saturday. We also had a whole bunch of...

Nets' Deron Williams saw a UFO during Sandy

This just in. Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams claims to have seen a UFO over New York City during superstorm Sandy. That's right. A real life UFO. Here's the snippet from his interview with GQ Magazine in which Williams explains:GQ: Was there a particular "New York moment" during the Hurricane? Did you see something that'd made you think, "That'd...

Nets' new mascot is 'meh'

About the only thing the Brooklyn Nets did not steal from the San Antonio Spurs (the team color scheme to be exact) has been their new mascot. So the Nets and Marvel Comics teamed up to create a new mascot and right away you might be thinking, "OK, cool Marvel is involved. The character should be pretty cool, right?" Well sort of, kind of. Named the "BrooklyKnight...

Same Old Nets

The Brooklyn Nets moved to a new arena in a new city, but the start of the season has that same old Nets feel. The slow-starting Nets we remember from New Jersey may have crossed the Hudson disguised as a new team from Brooklyn. The Nets fell to 1-2 on the season Wednesday night, losing by [...]

Mikhail Prokhorov gets his own comic-book

Mikhail Prokhorov has shown the world the extent of his super-human talents.  From turning the fall of the U.S.S.R. into capitalist gold and moving a whole basketball franchise from New Jersey to Brooklyn in a single bound, the obscenely wealthy playboy  is worthy of some kind of Tony Stark-type notoriety. Now, you can add comic-book star to the Brooklyn Nets owner list of accomplishments...

ORLANDO -- The Brooklyn Nets looked more like the playoff team they are expecting to become this season while the Orlando Magic looked like a team heading to the lottery. Evidence of that occured when the Nets blasted the Magic 107-68 Friday night. The Nets, who were coming off a 30-point loss against the host Miami Heat on Wednesday, got five players in double figures and scoring...

Magic still empty against Nets

Orlando was very much in a race against Brooklyn. Time was not on its side after digging a 22-point deficit in the first quarter and looking like a Friday repeat was on the way. Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries and Reggie Evans dominated the offensive glass, getting the Nets plenty of extra possessions to build the lead. The Magic were not going to lay down again. They were not going...
