Brook Lopez strengthened his push for a spot on the All-Star team with 22 points on 10-for-16 shooting, helping the Brooklyn Nets hold off the Minnesota Timberwolves 91-83 on Wednesday night. The Nets improved to 12-2 under interim coach P.J. Carlesimo, and they're 9-1 with their preferred starting lineup: Lopez, the NBA's highest-scoring center, Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Gerald Wallace and Reggie Evans. Williams and Johnson scored 18 points apiece, and the Nets never trailed despite some sloppy stretches of play. C.J. Watson added 14 points for the Nets, who won for the first time in their last nine games at Minnesota. The Wolves have lost seven of their last eight overall. Andrei Kirilenko had 15 points and Dante Cunningham added 14 for the Wolves, who played without shooting guard Alexey Shved (left ankle) and center Nikola Pekovic (right quadriceps) for the third straight game. That's not to mention the four others out with longer-term injuries, a troubling lis...

Brooklyn Nets want Dwight Howard, proposed three-team trade involving Kevin Love and Brook Lopez

The Brooklyn Nets still want Dwight Howard. And, according to Real GM's Jarrod Rudolph, they're exploring ways to get D12 from the struggling Lakers, believing "Howard can be had for the right price." Rudolph has a whopper of a rumor: Nets GM Billy King was preparing to contact the Minnesota Timberwolves to gauge interest in a three-team deal that would have...

Williams Doesn't See Nets Trading Lopez

Brook Lopez is having an All-Star caliber season for the Nets.

Wolves' odd couple serves backcourt well

MINNEAPOLIS You don't notice Luke Ridnour. He doesn't want you to, for one thing, and it works. It works because he blends in. It works because there's Ricky Rubio to distract you, his injury early this season and his mere existence now that he's back. It works because Ridnour doesn't care who pays attention to him or writes about him or sings his praises. He...

New Arena, New Jerseys, New Results

The Nets are the turn-around story of the season in the NBA, but it isn’t like people didn’t see it coming. I for one believed from the start of the season that they would finish with a better record than the Knicks. Analysts expected the Nets to make the playoffs even as a top 4 seed. Then the Nets got off to a great start, and Coach Avery Johnson won NBA Coach of the Month...

Rubio works through frustration in comeback

Ricky Rubio's left knee has been slow to come around this season. So have the crunch-time minutes and the victories for his Minnesota Timberwolves. That all adds up to one frustrated point guard. Rubio didn't hide his disappointment with sitting the entire fourth quarter in a loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night. He wants to be out there and helping his injury-plagued...

Nets Reassign Shengelia, Taylor To D-League

The Nets have reassigned forward Tornike Shengelia and guard Tyshawn Taylor to the Springfield Armor of the NBA Development League.

Nets top Timberwolves, improve to 12-2 under Carlesimo

MINNEAPOLIS -- Wins have become so commonplace with the Brooklyn Nets that they have taken to grading them for their quality. Wednesday? From the sounds of it, Brooklyn's 91-83 victory at Target Center over an injury-ravaged, slumping Timberwolves squad sounded like it deserved a C, C-plus, tops. For example: "We found a way to win in a building which has been a nightmare...

Nets-Grizzlies Preview

The Brooklyn Nets got off to the best start in franchise history before a disastrous 26-day span in December cost coach Avery Johnson his job. With P.J. Carlesimo now patrolling the sideline, the Nets are back to their early season form. Brooklyn looks to win for the 13th time in 15 games since Carlesimo was named interim coach as it continues a four-game road trip Friday night...

Ricky Rubio unhappy with being benched

Ricky Rubio was benched for the fourth quarter of the T-Wolves 91-83 loss to the Brooklyn Nets and according to Ray Richardson of the Pioneer Press, he was candidly unhappy about it. Rubio told Richardson, “I want to know what happened.” He continued, “We’re going to talk. ‘TP’ preferred to play the other players who were playing. I don’t know what to say, I don’t...

Wolves forced to use undersized lineup

MINNEAPOLIS Four inches and 82 pounds. That's a fair amount of height and a hearty dose of heft, and it's what the Timberwolves' starting backcourt was trying to make up for against Brooklyn Wednesday. There's no way around it: Luke Ridnour and Ricky Rubio are small. They're slight. Putting in J.J. Barea doesn't help, either, except to lower the center of...

Nets allegedly making a play for Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard doesn’t look to be fully healed from his April back surgery. With the Lakers season getting dimmer, they’ve loss nine of their last 11 games, Jarrod Rudolph of Real GM has said the Nets are ready to make a move for Dwight Howard again. According to Rudolph the Nets are planning to bring in a third team to make the trade a reality. This is the rumored trade Rudolph...
