NEW YORK -- The Brooklyn Nets knew that their recent five-game win streak was merely window dressing, so they had something to prove Sunday night when they faced the red-hot Indiana Pacers at the Barclays Center. "A lot of our wins lately have come against sub-par .500 teams," Nets All-Star point guard Deron Williams said. "We knew that this was a playoff team, which we've struggled against this year." The Nets entered play Sunday 14-0 against teams with records under .500, but 7-15 against teams with winning marks. The trend appeared likely to continue early when the Pacers took a 77-69 lead with 10:56 remaining, but the Nets then went on a 17-0 run, keyed by the play of center Brook Lopez. "We knew that they were a contender, a playoff team, and we wanted to go out and prove ourselves a little," said Lopez, who rebounded from an awful start to score nine points in the decisive surge, leading the Nets to a 97-86 victory. Nets players see P.J. as more than 'interim' coach

The Brooklyn Nets are the NBA's only undefeated team in 2013 and, if you ask the Nets players, they think "interim" head coach P.J. Carlesimo is a big reason for their recent run. The Nets improved to 8-1, since Carlesimo replaced Avery Johnson in late December, after they defeated the Indiana Pacers 97-86 at the Barclays Sunday. Now, as high profile names like...

Pacers-Nets Preview

Despite dealing with a coaching change, the Brooklyn Nets are in the midst of a strong stretch. To win six straight games for the first time in nearly seven years, they'll have to end Indiana's own four-game streak on Sunday in Brooklyn. Making things tougher, the Nets (21-15) might be without Deron Williams, who is the team's second-leading scorer at 16.7 points per...

Brooklyn Nets rolling, stretch win streak to 6

The Brooklyn Nets continue to play inspired basketball since the firing of Avery Johnson. After having 3 straight 20+ point wins, which set a franchise mark, the Nets had a taller order against the 3rd best team in the East, the Indiana Pacers. Yet a strong second half, especially in the 4th, saw the Nets stretch their win streak to a season-high 6 games. Meanwhile, they have vaulted...

Deron Williams doesn’t think he deserves to be an All-Star

In terms of statistics, Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams is having one of his worst years as a pro. He has openly admitted that he has struggled to learn a new offense since leaving the Utah Jazz, and as a result he is averaging only 16.8 points and 7.7 assists per game. Despite all that, Williams was second in the Eastern Conference All-Star voting earlier this month, trailing...

Raptors-Nets Preview

Solid defense has been the catalyst as interim coach P.J. Carlesimo has helped lead the Brooklyn Nets to their longest winning streak in nearly seven years. He still was an assistant last month when their victory north of the border seemed to ignite the Toronto Raptors. Brooklyn looks to earn a seventh straight victory while defeating visiting Toronto for the third time this season...

Deron Williams Doesn’t Think He’s Done Enough To Be An All-Star

Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams is a three-time All-Star. But he doesn’t think he has done enough this season to merit a fourth selection. ”I just think there’s people playing better than me,” he said Tuesday. Fan voting for the All-Star starters ended Monday. As of the latest returns at the beginning of January, Williams trailed Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo by...
