Breaking News! The Brooklyn Nets have fired head coach Avery Johnson, general manager Billy King announced the firing to the media this Thursday afternoon. P.J. Carlesimo has been named the intetim head coach as of right now. Avery Johnson, who was in his last year of his three year contract started the season off to an 11-4 start. Later on, the Nets have lost 10 of their last 13 games going to 14-14 in a total of 28 games. Mikhail Prokhorov clearly wasn't thrilled with his team struggling and he decided to fire Avery Johnson right away instead of waiting. This team who spent 330 million dollars on bringing back Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, Gerald Wallace and getting Joe Johnson in a trade from the Atlanta Hawks and a lot more other players. They shouldn't be playing .500 basketball as they have very good talent on this team and it was clear they needed to fire Avery Johnson who wasn't doing a good job caoching this roster. In the first season ever in Brooklyn and playing in New York City. Mikhail Prokhorov was hoping for his franchise to make the Eastern Conference Finals and I'm sure he not thinking that anymoe. P.J. Carlesimo will be the interim head coach for now, until they look at other head coaches like Phil Jackson or Jerry Sloan.

LeBron James, Avery Johnson’s son question firing

Avery Johnson was fired as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday, one month after he was named Eastern Conference coach of the month, and two weeks after Deron Williams complained about the team’s offensive system. Brooklyn entered the season with high expectations after acquiring Joe Johnson in the offseason and re-signing Gerald Wallace. They started off 11-4 and won five...

Nets fire Avery Johnson

The Brooklyn Nets have fired Avery Johnson after the team has sputtered to a 14-14 start. That kind of record might have been OK in East Rutherford, N.J., but not for the new-look Nets in Brooklyn. The team has namd P.J. Carlesimo the interim coach. Brooklyn got out to an 11-4 start, but have gone 3-10 since -- including two losses to those cross-borough rivals from Manhattan...

Brooklyn Nets Fire Coach Avery Johnson As Deron Williams, Billy King Strike Again

Multiple stories reporting Avery Johnson‘s firing on Thursday described Brooklyn Nets players as “blindsided” by the news. By any normal standards, this should have been a shocking development: the reigning NBA coach of the month, who was given a thrown-together roster, getting the boot after a rough stretch in the schedule. Nothing is shocking given the situation, however...

Nets Fire Avery Johnson

A picture is worth a thousand words.  This photo to me represents the relationship between Avery and Deron.  Deron is gaining the reputation of being a coach killer. He made Jerry Sloan quit mid season for crying out loud.  He started the "fire Avery" movement last week when he criticized his current coach's game plans and now finally has his wish.  As reported...

a Nets fan happy with the coaching change

After another ugly loss to Milwaukee, the Nets’ tenth loss of December, Avery Johnson was finally “relieved of his coaching duties.” Most of the attention and blame has been directed at Deron Williams. I don’t agree. In fact, I thought this coaching change came late enough. Avery Johnson is not a great coach and he was underachieving with the Nets. His record with New Jersey...

Nets hand Bobcats 17th straight loss

NEW YORK (AP) -- The Brooklyn Nets gave P.J. Carlesimo a victory in his debut and the Charlotte Bobcats a 17th straight loss, getting 26 points and 11 rebounds from Brook Lopez in a 97-81 rout Friday night. A day after firing Avery Johnson, the Nets played as they did last month, when they were 11-4 and Johnson was Eastern Conference coach of the month. They are just 4-10 in December...

As Expected, Same Old Nets, But Even More Hysterical

Everyone was excited to have the Nets in Brooklyn. A state-of-the-art arena, new jerseys and a Russian billionaire couldn’t disguise the fact that we are still dealing with the same cursed franchise that played across the river in a swamp. After a 14-14 start, the Nets honored their history yesterday by kicking Avery Johnson out the door. The same coach that sat through two miserable...

Bucks seek home win vs. Humphries-less Nets

The Nets may have moved to Brooklyn and added Joe Johnson, but their problems against the Milwaukee Bucks did not end when these teams met earlier this month. The Bucks proved to be superior in the backcourt in that contest and have now won 12 straight over the Nets heading into Wednesday night's meeting at the Bradley Center. Milwaukee won 97-88 at Brooklyn on Dec. 9 in the...

Avery Johnson reportedly lost many players in Nets locker room

Avery Johnson was fired by the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday just 28 games into the season. The team was 14-14 and had gone 3-10 in its last 13 games. Blowout losses in recent games appeared to play a role in the firing, and so did Johnson’s perceived inability to reach his players. GM Billy King said at his press conference announcing the firing that Johnson wasn’t reaching the...

Green Envy: What Nets fans said - 12/25

The Celtics delivered a great Christmas gift, a win over a half decent team! Nets fans seemed to have an awful christmas. Mostly their coach, Avery Johnson, got a ton of heat with a lot of calls for his job. It does really seem like the Nets have no idea what to do on offense. Still, it was a great defensive game for the Celtics and a nice start to the road trip. Top Three: How...

Nets owner explains firing, watches Brooklyn win

NEW YORK - Brooklyn Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov cut short a skiing vacation in British Columbia to attend to the numerous issues plaguing his team during the previous 13 games. Those problems included 1-on-1 play, a stagnant offense as well as a lack of concentration, and, after seeing it linger too long, the Russian billionaire said he wanted to tackle those issues head-on. ...

Dommermuth: Avery Johnson Fired

The Brooklyn Nets announced Thursday that head coach Avery Johnson would be relieved of his duties and replaced by assistant P.J. Carlesimo. A statement was released by Nets GM Billy King following Wednesday night’s loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.
