TEAMS: Denver Nuggets, Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, New Jersey Nets, Phoenix Suns
Because of the late start on the east coast, I only watched the first half of the game. So, I'm not going to do a full review because it's not fair to rate players just based on stats. To put what I saw in simple terms our defense is bad. The Netsâ defensive rating was 126.8. To put that in perspective, the league average for defensive rating is 99.8 this season (lower is better). The Nets have the worst defensive rating in the league, and that's 109.4. So yeah, the Nets are bad with defense. Corey Brewer looked like LeBron James, if LeBron could shoot threes like Ray Allen. Rudy Fernandez looked great as well, and it seems that he has finally found his fit with the Nuggets. That being said, Rudy Fernandez was being defended by the likes of Anthony Morrow, whose defense can be compared to the every Republican presidential candidate besides Jon Huntsman. You put guys like Brewer and Fernandez on Morrow and they look like NBA All Stars, you put Huntsman in a debate with Ri...

Heat's three-game slide raising concerns
DENVER -- Denver coach George Karl called Miami before Friday's night's game likely the best team in the NBA.
Perhaps he was wrong.
As far as the NBA standings are concerned, the Heat aren't even the best NBA team in their state.
Miami (8-4) dropped its third straight game 117-104 to the Nuggets at the Pepsi Center to fall a half game behind Orlando in the Southeast...
NBA: New Jersey Nets Move Can't Come Too Soon
For years the New Jersey Nets had been playing their home games way off in the swamps of East Rutherford at the Izod Center. The team had been struggling on the court for a while and fans were becoming less and less willing to take the trip out there to see a team lose.
The teamâs property search landed them at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey for a couple of seasons...
Nets 110, Suns 103
Deron Williams had 35 points, his most since coming to New Jersey at last season's trade deadline, as well as 14 assists and the Nets held off the short-handed Phoenix Suns 110-103 Friday night for just their third victory in 12 games this season.
Phoenix, playing without Steve Nash and Grant Hill because of injuries, was down by three at the half before the Nets pulled away...
For Nuggets â itâs a Bird, itâs a Chris
Prior to Wednesdayâs win against the Nets, Nuggets coach George Karl discussed why Chris âThe Birdmanâ Andersen hadnât played much of late.
âWhen heâs on the court right now, weâre getting hammered a little bit,â Karl said of the backup center. âItâs not all his fault, but heâs been on the court five, six minutes where we go down eight, nine points. And I bail...

Today in strange J.R. Smith news from China: J.R.’s sister gets in a brawl
Well, this is not good. Via Eye on Basketball (with a hat tip to Deadspin and Chinese media outlets): This time, it wasn’t Smith who did something, but his sister. According to reports, after Smith was fouled, his sister threw a bottle onto the court. And then freaked out, choking a woman and shoving an 80-year-old.…
J.R. Smithâs sister reportedly brawls in stands at Chinese game
J.R. Smith is a human reality show â and check out the latest episode. According to Chinese reports, Smithâs sister threw a bottle on the court after a Smith foul in a game (the former Nugget, of course, is playing in China this season). Something happened and, next thing you know, she was choking an older female fan.
According to CBSSports.com, which picked up the story from...

Game Day: New Jersey Nets at Utah Jazz (1/14/12)
For more than five years, Deron Williams was the face of the Utah Jazz. He was named to two All-Star teams and led the franchise to four playoff berths, including a trip to the Western Conference finals in 2007.
The Jazz were hopeful he would end his career in Utah, but his time there came to a surprising and abrupt end.
